shite diet? lack of insoluble fiber? gotta scrub that colon out with what amounts to sawdust, to keep those pockets clean. they get sludge in them, and next thing ya know, it's infected and you're losing chitlins.

get better soon, man.

I've had the same colon resection surgery back in 2011. The diverticulitis was leaking and causing infection. Very painful.
Glad you are doing well. Things are a bit "different" without that bit of colon but with proper attention life will be pretty normal.
In the end it's safer that you had the offending part removed.
Good luck.

Thank you again everyone for the well wishes and thoughts I came home yesterday, less then 48 hours after my surgery was complete, I was doing that well (I’m pretty proud of myself!). Now it’s time to heal. My biggest issue is not trying to do too much, I went for a 10 minute walk this morning (trust me, didn’t get very far) and it felt like I hiked 20 miles. But I’ll be OK.

We sound pretty similar Bill, the surgeon said the first nine inches of colon was very bad, thick, chronically inflamed, the next three we crawling with “tics” (Diverticuli). “Things” are working as they should, but I can’t eat much more then jello and soup at this point. Over all, I am VERY glad it’s over, everything is fixed, and look forward to getting back to life.
