Hey hey! Back from work!
I LOVE shopping for the house as well! I don't think there are many women that don't enjoy this! I've been shopping around for cork flooring for the bedrooms... I hate carpets (although I love rugs), so cork floors are the best alternative IMO. Natural, sound reducing, fire proof, and nonallergic product! Gotta love it! Next thing on the list is a new bedroom set, since our mattress sucks! But my taste is a little expensive.... so I'll have to save a little more!

Mireyna - cork is a great idea. Along that same natural, green theme - we opted for genuine linoleum for the kitchen floor in our new place. It's hard to find around here, but one business in town could get it for us. No vinyl here - this is the jute-backed stuff made with linseed oil - the old fashioned kind of flooring that's been around a hundred years. I need to search around for a decent pix of the outside of our new place. If I find one I'll post it.

Hey, girls - I found a house pic that might work. This was taken before we started any painting and repairs - landscaping and lawn will come later! The red plum tree didn't survive the ice storm, alas, but the big magnolia on the far right did.
It was built in 1939 and is of clinker brick. It's got 4 bedrooms and 3 baths on the ground floor, and one full bath in the basement - the basement is so great: it's 1100 square feet, has a fireplace in the club room and will hold all of my husband's hobby stuff - guitars, amps, old military radios - and even leave a laundry room for me. Best of all, the house is a block from my kids' school. After 5 moves in 12 years, we hope we'll be here for many years to come. |

Oh now you've gone and done it, Lisa - you're going to have to get rid of your Rollies and switch to Tudor!

[QUOTE=abigsecret;397545] Lisa! That's gorgeous!
Could you show us some inside pics? Like from a firplace or something? How large in the liveable space? I would like to see an "after" picture as well if you can take one... Thanks, guys. Haven't gotten inside pix taken yet - I'll take that on as a near-future project. We have some "befores" and it's pretty grim inside. However, it hadn't been messed up with remodeling over the years and still retains lots of its original features - glass doorknobs, cool hardware and light fixtures. The new kitchen is my favorite - we were trying to recreate a 1939 look. Now I just have to find the camera! The inside ground floor is 2600 feet. it has a huge empty attic, if we ever considered turning that into living space we'd have even more room. Moving from our 1500 foot house, this place feels palatial! Palacial? Like a palace!? |

Oh my goodness, Lisa - what a gorgeous hoem. I just adore tudors! However, only a cute Cape Cod was in our price range! We're looking for a rug and a nice dining table ourselves, but it takes time to find what you like.
Post some more pics of your remodel when you get the chance...

Hi Lisa - Hope your well too.
Thats a great house you have there. I love the houses in America for their space - here in the U.K that size of house would cost a absolute fortune... your really lucky. Space is everything. |
