Opinion . .Is a 5513 gloss preferable over a 14060 ?

I do like a plexi but if I can't find a matte dial (within budget!) is it worth getting a nice 5513 with WG & gloss dial or would I be better off just getting 14060 ?

I have a nice shiny 114060 which I love but fancy something with a bit of vintage / SS / patina . .

I have owned 14060m COSC & a 16610 previously

What do you think ?

Based on your description, I'd say, yes, a late 5513 would be what you'd want.

It's similar to a 14060, but also quite different. The plexi gives the 5513, even with the wg surrounds on the hour markers, a different feel. Either model could have varying degrees of patina, as long as the 14060 has a tritium dial/hands, of course. Still, be ready to pay a lot more for the 5513.

Go for it.
If matte is too pricey, and you've owned some sapphire Subs, I think a glossy 5513 is a great way to go. In terms of vintage charm for the price, they're pretty tough to beat.
Cheers,

Since you've owned new and sapphire and say you want a taste of vintage, I agree to look for a 5513. Even if the matte dial is out of your budget, the plexi crystal will give the watch a different feel and look than a 14060 tritium. Good luck.

I sold my 14060 long ago, and kept my L-serial 5513. I had it overhauled by the RSC with Luminova dial and hands, and new acrylic crystal, so something of a vintage vibe and modern functionality.

I think that is just about exactly what the OP is after. Looks great by the way.

I can't post a photo because most would deem it an obscenity: I wear a late 5513 with a 5512 matte service dial. I have the original WG-surrounds dial saved in case I ever sell. My point is that there are less-pricey alternatives in the form of service dials if you want the matte look without paying the premium. Depends how much of a purist you happen to be.

Just for the look, I prefer plexi with a matte dial.
