Grand Seiko SBGC219 Spring Drive GMT Chronograph

Just wanted to share a couple of photos of my latest addition.

I saw photos of this watch on watch blogs and forums during Baselworld 2017, and didn't particularly like it because of its size, busy dial, and price. However, after having a chance to see it in person this week and trying it on, I could not resist it. The impressive and unique technical details of this watch are well publicized so I won't rehash them here - bottom line is I just found this to be an irresistibly cool watch, especially when seen in person. Getting a nice discount from the AD just sealed the deal!

Thanks! I don't disagree with your views - positive and negative. Definitely a lot going on, and perhaps even too much.

I actually would have preferred if they used the same 24-hour bezel found on the black or white dial versions, instead of a tachy bezel. But for some reason this watch just spoke to me when I tried it on. Perhaps it appeals to the gadget lover/techie side of me and it is very different from the other mechanical watches I have. Also, what they have done with the polishing of the ceramic and Ti metal on this watch is just amazing.

Nevertheless, I can see how some people can disagree with me, but I would caution anyone to make any final judgment on it without seeing it in-person.

Congrats! You are the first one that I've seen with the new Logo style. Were there any other models at the AD with Grand Seiko at the top position?

Thanks! The only other one with the new logo that I saw at the AD was the new two-tone Hi-Beat SBGH252. They received a number of the Basel 2017 releases, but those are typically spoken for already, so not displayed. For example, I got this SBGW253 from them a couple months ago:

Thanks for the comments. Two weeks in and still can't stop looking at this watch or think about it when I'm wearing other watches. I don't think I've liked any other watch in my collection as much, even when just acquired.
There are just so many things to look at and admire about this watch. It's even making me think about passing on my SpeedyTuesday reservation....

A few recent photos taken with my better camera (the dust you see is on the surface of the watch, not inside the dial):

The bracelet comprises highly polished ceramic center links with polished titanium outer links. The case is made of polished titanium with a polished ceramic outer cladding. It's truly impressive how well they are able to polish the surfaces of both ceramic and titanium to such a smooth and glossy finish. And since the ceramic is highly scratch resistant, the glossiness should stay flawless for a long time (unless one manages to chip it somehow). Even if you do manage to damage the ceramic links or case cladding, the great thing about the design is that it allows you to have the damaged parts easily replaced. For example, you wouldn't have to replace the entire watch case if one edge or part of it gets chipped or cracked.

Congratulations on this great watch ⌚
Thank you for sharing pictures of this superb watch as well
I'm in the market for this watch too. I yahooed and googled some pictures to make sure it will be a good buying experience for me and even viewed over and over again same video on YouTube.
I think this model is nicer than GMT bezel variations, and limited edition
If I make this watch I will be sharing some photos with you too
Happy Days

Glad you enjoyed the photos. I haven't found many photos or discussion of this watch beyond those from Seiko itself or blogs around the time of Baselworld. I look forward to seeing your photos when you get yours!
