Patek Philippe Nautilus 3800
Hi,
I have seen this watch on internet...and i am very interested...It will potentially become my first PP (potentially). It comes without box and papers. The seller has sent the following pictures and I am wondering if it's not a fake...could you help me? In addition, it's a 3800...small size but it's a very elegant watch...could you post your pictures with this model on your wrist. I have found other 3800 - the date indicator is in white not black as here, and as i am concerned the polich with which the date is written is different... The glass has some minor and light scratches - is it a plexi or a saphire? can it be polished or I have to change it...? please help me. thank you. |

For CHF 100 you can get extracts from the PP archives. I would highly recommend you ask the seller to include those before considering the purchase. I am not sure if you are fully aware that this model is about 5mm smaller than the normal Nautilus. 5mm is quite a difference, so try it on before buying it. The watch seems legit from the pictures though.
Is the seller a professional seller? I am always quite wary of pictures of the movement outside of the case when the seller is not a professional seller. There is a reason why the movements are manufactured in dust-free rooms, and if this is an individual that just opened up the case I would not touch it, as PP service costs and times can be hardcore. Hope that helps.

An uncased Nautilus... not something you see everyday.

The seller is a professional, he owned a watch shop in the past.
The watch is proposed for a good price and fair.... 10 kusd. What do you think? |

Tbh, for that much, I'd get an AP 15300/15400 for a similar Genta derived design in a larger case size.

US$10k (€7400) isn't bad for that watch. In Europe they sell between €10-12k. But I had a look at it before, but because of the size I decided not to go for it. I was afraid I would get a Nautilus that just was not what I was looking for. I decided to go for an AP RO and decided to get the Nautilus I really want when I am able to find one, i.e. the 5711 or 5712.

The 3800 was in production for many years. $10K USD is not a bad price, but when this watch was purchased originally from an AD, the original purchase price was probably only a fraction of the current selling price.
I would ask when this watch was produced or first purchased. The Extract from the archives should have this information. |

For 10k, the watch should have box/papers and a recent service.

Isn't $10K for a nautilus an incredible deal?
The movement is obviously legit. I suppose it's possible that the dial, case and bracelet are fake although unlikely because the movement is obviously real. |

provided it's all original and unmolested then why not... and that you don't mind the smaller size...

I love the 3800 and I would go for it. Seems like good value to me (but I do like smaller watches). |

Even the 43mm 5711 wears more like a 40mm Rolex due to the short lug to lug length. This one must be diminutive in comparison to behemoths like 42mm Royal Oak Offshore.
