Just picked up a 2021 Black Face. I wore it for a day and was like oh no, I think I made a big mistake(pun intended). Then I did some research and figured out I was wearing it too low and loose on the wrist. Moved it up a little and made micro adjustments on the band until I got it just right. Wore it two days straight after and I got to say, I love it. I’m a Panerai guy, but I’m really digging this beast.

Welcome! Proper sizing is key with the DSSD. Quite comfortable once you find the right fit. Great watch and one of my favorites!

Wow that strap is small. PM me if you need a recommendation for a proper strap maker.

Most all watches including Rolex look better on the wrist when worn just above the wrist bone.

Congrats OP. Just picked up a 136660 - totally agree - this watch needs to be adjusted so that it is snug enough so that it won't flop side to side. Love the weight and feel of the D-Blue.

This is key to wearing a SDDS (other watches, too). I also had to take some time to find the right adjustments. Like having a washing machine that is out of balance, this watch must be securely seated on your wrist for comfort. A loose fitting SDDS was not comfortable to me. I also owned an Omega Ploprof and the same thing applied.

Not everyone has the same arm/wrist shape, so I had to let water seek its own level by letting the watch find where it's most comfortable and secure on my wrist, not necessarily where I want it to be. Not the same for everyone.

I must be a freak of nature because I can’t make any bracelet or strap tight enough to keep a watch above or below the wrist bone, the watch has to float somewhat or it’s uncomfortable. Maybe it’s because I live in Colorado where the temperature can easily swing forty degrees on a day or maybe I’m just delicate. As for the roll from front to back I always keep the 6 side short to limit roll to the 12 and bigger watches (Panerai, ExpII, etc) stay centered on my 6.75” wrist better than smaller watches. This is my personal strategy based on my anatomy but I can’t be the only one.

I have the same issue with my GMT. It is 18k gold so it’s a heavy watch and moves easier but if i use the micro extension closed than it is to tight on some parts of the day and some times just perfect.

Yep, same in NC. For comfort, sometimes I make the micro adjustment depending on temperature of the day since it's so easy to do. Just a matter of what suits me at the time. This is why I love this clasp. As we both stated, anatomy/shape has a lot to do with it.

I'm OK with a little play regarding my other lighter watches, but not with the SDDS, in particular, as I don't like it moving around.

Congrats, she’s a beaut.

Is the proper terminology black face or black dial? Whenever people say black face, I immediately picture Justin Trudeau or Jimmy Kimmel.

I’ve read, maybe here on TRF, that dial is more appropriate than face.
