Has Panerai killed your Rolex love?

Maybe not completely but close. I find my interest has gone way down once the Pam obsession set in. Don't get me wrong I still have great admiration for Rolex but the passion is just not there at the moment. Anyone else have similar thoughts?

I don't want to say "yes"

Like Bryan says when I put my Sub on I just fall in love again.......... both brands are completely different and there's room for both in my heart and wrist Rolex and Panerai for me , love both of them

For me, no brand has ever diminished my appreciation for another.

Each brand has its special interest.

I love the new GMT but the 088 is incredible to look at.

I will never have to choose one over the other.

they live in harmony with each other!!!

Panerai has just redirected my Rolex collection.

VERY few current production pieces interest me in Rolex.
My tastes have gone more towards the vintage sports models.

Of current production Id love a DD and an Exp II (I think the Exp is discreet, can be worn anywhere in the world and can take a serious beating)

I guess you could say my appreciation and respect for Rolex is unchanged, just my passion has gone down. Every next watch thought starts and ends with Panerai right now. And the straps are a whole other issue..Yes, I've got it bad!

THANKS

my wife even loves her 049 because the watch looks good with every strap she has purchased!! I ve never changed my strap.

the 049 is unisex and very appealing to females who want the bigger look.

I wanted her to get a ladys rolex ,, anyone,, BUT none appealed to her. We looked for over a year.

as soon as she saw this watch,, it was an immediate attraction.

Rolex has to start enticing females with a more "cool" in watch to keep up with the times IMO.

Can't say it's affected my feeling for Rolex, on the other hand Rolex changing their models for more expensive ones has knocked my feelings for them. I'm not a fan of the ceramic bezel, i know lots of people like it, but for me it's too shiny and the old bezels were perfectly good and you could change them over.

I do still love the Sub LV, i had to sell one to get my 233, but when i can afford one i think i might go back and get this one

As for brands of watches, i'm not really a fan of any, i'm more a fan of models of watches, with Panerai there are few that i do actually like, these being the 233, 270, 311, 317, 26 and a few others, the rest i'm not too bothered about, same with Rolex, i like the Submariners, Daytona and a couple of others, JLC i love the memovox and the new Polaris, with AP i'm not a fan of the ROO, but love the RO chrono.

LOL. Actually she wears a vintage Lady Rolex I got for her when we got married in 1977. I tried to get her a modern one once she said nope!

Great pics. They are both very special. It's a tough choice. I guess you need one of each for balance.

This situation happening to me. So sorry Rolex, I lost my passion. Not all, still in love with Daytona (Hmmm...Maybe), but Rolex is not my top priority no more.
In my mind now only Pannie & straps!!!
Rolex only stepping stone for me? I don't know...

Yes.. Totally..

Don't get me wrong.. I still love Rolex and Rolex makes great watches..

but.. currently I only wear Panerais..and only own one piece of Rolex (I used to own at least 4-5 pieces of Rolex at a time).

I think Rolex watches are a tad small for my taste.. that is all.. and I think I should get myself a deepsea and fall in love with Rolex again lol

While I love many PAM's, I don't think I'll ever be a die-hard fan like I am for Rolex. Mainly that's because I think PAM's look great on their different leather straps, but I've learned the hard way I'm just not a strap kind of guy. Every watch I've owned in the past that had a nice leather strap eventually had to go because I hated the feel when it got wet and couldn't stand the eventual smell that would develop when wearing it daily during the hot summer months.

I realize straps are easily replaced, but for me, I just like the look, feel & function of a good metal bracelet. The few PAM metal bracelets I've seen just don't do it for me either. So, I will continue to admire the brand from the sidelines.
