Help

I have a buddies father wanting me to purchase this off him for 5k. I am new to collecting Rolex watches and honestly don’t know much. The picture is in not clear and I have not seen it in person. I plan on looking at it tomorrow sometime.

For 5K I would say well worth it! Is it running? It is def polished. It is a GMT Master 1675 root beer (brown or more burgundy but whatever) nipple dial with an applied logo and acrylic crystal(early version) with a black and gold fat font bezel that looks legit but newer. Not sure if the bezel came with the watch as it should have a brown or two tone brown and gold. With a black bezel there should be a black dial, if I am not mistaken. Can't tell the condition of the hands. Looks like an early to later 1970's version I would look at the numbers on the end link and one on the bracelet to determine if it's correct for the serial number located between the lugs. Check the movement. You could easily sell the black bezel and use the cash to get the two-tone bezel, get it serviced and call it a day. Next question, any papers and did he purchase it new? Has he ever had it serviced and does he have the service docs or a warranty card? Wait for the experts, they should be along shortly, it's been very slow on the forum today...

I suppose it could be a Franken watch that your friend's father purchased from some disreputable dealer who cobbled it together from spare parts. When you do see the watch, take lots of pics in the sunlight at all angles to see all the warts. Plus close ups of the dial and hands. Tale a pick of the serial and model number between the lugs, you will have to remove the bracelet to see those. Take a pic of the number on the end link. Take pictures of the open bracelet clasp. Take a pic of the sides so you can see the edges of the case. Post your pictures on this forum.

This is the same watch that you have been trying to sell off as one you "inherited" in another thread, with the same bad pictures.

Here is your quote from that, since binned, thread.

Quote:
I inherited this watch and i’m Debating about selling this for a newer model. I took it to the local AD and they told me it’s in great shape, the bracelet is in good shape with minimal stretch considering it age. They would not tell me what the watch is worth because they do not sell used watches. Need help pricing or suggestions about keeping.
I think that you are wasting the time of good folks on this Forum.

If he gave it to you, why did you say he wants you to buy if off him for $5k?

Seriously dude, what’s your goal? Are you trying to assess the real value of a stolen watch?

I don’t understand the true purpose of these found ‘grandfather’s’ long lost Rolex watch.

Does anybody know?

Sounds like the OP is hoping that people will send him offers without being a pledge member. Hopefully the Mods monitor his PM activity. It may be a stolen watch if it was just given to the OP.

I do t know what is going on in this thread, but I must comment on that dial and say she looks mighty fine.
It all looks legit.
Unfortunately I am confused by the OP. Not sure where they are going.
