$50K Panda by Christmas?

It looks like 116500LN prices have finally bottomed out after the recent sharp declines.

Does anyone think they will get back to pushing $50K with the Holidays coming?

The Panda is no more than a US$32k watch (double retail + some change for your trouble).

Definitely. I insist you take out a bank loan against your house and buy as many as you can right now. It's basically a lock. A sure thing. Never has anything been more certain.

Let’s see, Covid largely over, Rolex making more watches than ever before, the equity and bond markets both off significantly, what points towards Rolex prices increasing?

Understood, thanks everyone for the feedback.

So are sites like these not realistic as they have 116500 above $40K (at least the white dials):

I think all of the over hyped watches will stay steady now through the end of the year. Maybe a slight uptick for Christmas. Other less hyped pieces will continue to slide a bit more (I.e. Explorer I &II, airking, Datejusts, etc).

Then, once the glut of offloaded pieces have gone through the system (grey), I would expect Daytonas, and to a lesser extent, GMTs & Subs to slightly increase. I wouldn’t be surprised if Daytonas get back to high $30s to $40k by Fall into Christmas 2023.

Yes this is completely unrealistic. Bob’s Watches is waiting for a fool who won’t bother to do a 5 second google search and see that there are significantly cheaper options from just as equally reputable dealers. Even current prices are likely to continue trickling downward given the state of current events.

I think it will be stable and might be a small uptick. With most brands doing price increases due to inflation it will cause a small uptick in the market once holiday rolls around.

Panda is a $5k watch at best. But the market is the market.

it has not bottomed out yet and I suspect the worst is yet to come. I expect further decline over a more extended period of a year to two years before bottoming it out. Let's see what happens after the November election

I don't think so. I think it'll be a little closer to retail by the holidays.

The question in my mind boils down to availability. The prices seems superfluous.

I doubt it, but maybe. I do it seee increasing over the next few months, just not to the 50k level.

$50K by Christmas 2023 is more realistic though.

History of this forum knowing the price of the Daytona has been historically wrong with greatly underestimating just how high the Daytona can/will go. 30+ years of Rolex ownership and I greatly underestimated it initially.

This Christmas, probably not. No one knows down the road how far it will go back up and it will go up. It’s a very safe bet that if Rolex changes or does anything to the SS Daytona line, the prices will go nuclear. In the grand scheme, I don’t think it matters if the price is $40k or $50k at that point to the demographic that is buying it.

Opinions valued from those who correctly predicted watch prices would go up during the pandemic.
