100 Greatest TV Shows of All Time....

Well since nobody seemed to like Rolling Stone Magazine Greatest Songs of All Time, they probably aren't going too enamored with these either....

No Miami Vice on the list? Wow that's amazing. The show that was really defined the whole eighties, strongly influenced men's fashion... and rewrote the whole cop show genre, really.

It was larger than life back then. Yet Rolling Stone doesn't even put it to their top-100. That's quite ridiculous.

I vehemently disagree with the order in which these shows were ranked. Maybe I'm just old.

I like most of the top 11, would have Game of Thrones in there too and a couple of classic UK comedies like Only Fools and Horses and Fawlty Towers.

I'm not sure on the order and if it means that much other than personal taste but I agree Miami Vice should have been on the list. Also for the technical achievement of shooting a lot at night.

A pretty good list although there were probably 5 or 6 I'd never seen.

I could probably add a few. Magnum PI, Hawaii 50 the originals. Maybe Gunsmoke and Bonanza but a lot of this is pretty generation specific.

The Ed Sullivan Show was iconic.

the top 10 seems reasonable. atlanta feels pretty randomly planted in the top 10 though

entourage not on the list either, one of my favorite shows. also surprised top gear didn't make it

Strikes me as a very 'modern' list, which is fine.
No list is ever going to please everyone.

I've actually seen 27 of those 100. There were a bunch I never even heard of.

Horrible, just horrible. I think the Rolling Stone Magazine Greatest Songs of All Time list was better (not much). Never heard of half of the shows.
MASH #25? Come on...I also agree, no Miami Vice. WTF?
Magnum P.I.?
CHIPS?
Bob Newhart show?
Million Dollar Man?
The list goes on and on.

How about we start creating our own list here.
What shows are missing from the list?

Wait, wat? Is the MV Forum eyeballing us now?!

In all seriousness, MV was maybe a 90-100 rating on this list but only for the first two seasons. It devolved into a music video and commercial with bad writing and mailed in cameos.

This RS list was likely based on the life of the series.

Personally, the Simpsons being so high is a crime. It needs to end. After season 14 it was past done as writers went into rehab.

Weird not to see Happy Days or Welcome Back Kotter and other such icons on the list.

As I get older more and more lists are becoming more modern. I do have to wonder who all and what all was used to determine what all went into which ones made it and how the order was determine.

I am a failed actor, spent a year trying to make it in Hollywood after I left the Navy and was on three soap opera episodes and a couple commercials, if you see any of these you’ll understand why I failed

Here is one of my commercials…. I am at 1:25. Be gentle….

Friends at 49 is a travesty. Probably the most popular show from the 90's-00's after Seinfeld. Grey's Anatomy should have been in the top 50 as well. A bunch in the top 50 I've never even heard of. What about Survivor and The Cosby Show??? Not even in the top 100. Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right, Sportscenter.....quite a few not on that list.

I can understand #1 and #2.

Or WKRP, Sanford and Son, Laverne and Shirley, Three’s Company. 70s were an iconic time for sitcoms and many glossed over.

Chappelles Show not in the top 20 also wrong. I’d put that top 10 easy, it was groundbreaking.

Never even heard of Atlanta before.

Suffers from excess recency as well as working too hard to be edgy.

Additionally, tries to include shows that broke new ground but that fit their narrative, while ignoring foundational ground breaking shows.

As stated above, gives passes to shows that eroded into self parodies while ignoring some other shows that had incandescent periods and later faded, although were ground breaking nonetheless.

Meh.

I think there were some good shows that were left off the list but I do agree with the majority of it.
