First AD purchase

I've been buying and selling watches through various forms, but this time I thought I'd stop in to my local AD and put my name on "the list" for this beauty. Finally got the call after not too long of a wait. Compliments my collection and new found love for this iconic brand.

Looking forward to adding more as time goes on.

I gotta say, not too long. (<4 weeks) Struck up a very good conversation with the Manager, and just mentioned looking for this piece if one ever comes up. No hard press from my end at all. While I was in store waiting on some information on a few links I was buying I overheard at least 2 people hard pressing SA for info on how to get to the "top of the list" as quickly as possible. I left with no expectations on if/when I'd ever get a call, but was over the moon when I did.

Love it! Congrats. I am on the waitlist since December. Was told 8-12 months and check in every 4-6 weeks. 4 week wait is reasonable and encouraging. I suspect come April and Basil things will open up a bit.

A coke will definitely come, will be interesting if it is on Jubilee or Oyster, but honestly I don't think the Coke will have the same long-term luster as a Pepsi or Batman. But there will nonetheless be enough pent-up demand that the prices won't say that; just my personal opinion at the end of the day.

But, with a black overlay, the chances are Rolex could probably crush a solid red on a Coke, unlike the technical balancing act needed on the Pepsi. Personally, I prefer the batch variations on the Pepsi, as it gives each watch some uniqueness and charm as well as a more "artisanal" feel even if it isn't necessarily true.

OP - Would love to see your other watches in the collection too.

Solid red...I doubt that...Colors are just taste...Lets look to the M serial coke in 2007 (latest in aluminium)...They are still in demand today and have always kept their value...

The Sub will have a movement update for sure...IMO there will be a bracelet update as well. Maybe the sides of the bracelet and clasp will go back to brushed as in the 90s...The sides of the current version Sub is polished for the time being...

That updated fully brushed Oyster bracelet will also be used at the updated Coke Gmt but with the GMT clasp...

Those are just my imaginations...If they will introduce Coke, they should introduce it with a different bracelet (definitely NOT Jubilee), so people would buy both...The only difference between the Pepsi and Coke should not be just the color of the half part of the bezel insert (blue vs black)....

Maybe Pepsi will stay with Jubilee (which looks more metro), when the Coke will be with an Oyster bracelet (which looks more outdoor)...

What do you think ?

Congrats and well done. ADs see all types of people and make their assessments of them. Maybe I'm naïve but I do believe those that go in to an AD acting all full of themselves don't get much consideration. On the other hand, someone who comes in and engages in some conversation, doesn't accuse the AD of holding something in the safe or acts entitled might get the surprise of their life when they walk out with a coveted piece.
