Would it be an issue if he sold it at a loss instead of breakeven?

By way of a brief reminder, when I purchase something, I can do whatever I want with it. I do not (and did not) say anything to my AD about what I would do with the watch. Sometimes, in this perverse Rolex environment, it is easy to forget that capitalism is the rule of law here in the US... I see nothing wrong with flipping a watch for a profit, this is what arbitrage is all about... however, I am not trying to make a profit, and I am not deceiving my AD. They do not have the right to tell me what to do with a product after I purchase it.

Additionally, I paid $33,000-ish for my Daytona, which gave me the power to purchase a Hulk for someone on this forum, a BLNR for myself, and now, potentially, this SS sub for someone here. Think of it this way; I am leveraging my AD relationship to help people on this forum because this forum has been a HUGE help to me. If my AD offers me a watch and I say yes, I will take it, and then I choose to sell it to a forum member here for the same price, am I really doing something wrong? If, after reading this, you still think so... then we will simply have to agree to disagree.

Joe

Joe,

You have absolutely NOTHING to justify to these people.

What you are doing is completely OK and if you were charging a finder's fee, that would be OK also. You are investing your time and using your AD relationship as leverage which you paid money to build.

Keep in mind the user questioning your motives buys and sells watches ALL the time - I assume for a profit.

So thank you. Thank you very much.

Joe, Thank you for being a first-rate stand up guy. Wish there were more Joes in the world and many less sanctimonious Dueys. Thanks Joe for your gesture!

Nice gesture by OP. Helps someone on the forum and FWIW it augments your purchase history with your AD. The only people I think it screws over are those folks who just want a Sub and not on this forum and don’t know about TS etc. As alluded to on other threads, vast majority of folks who want a Rolex aren’t watch folks and just want to go to a jeweler and buy one. That buyer has one less on the market for him/her. But no guarantee that buyer would have been next in the door to buy the watch, could have easily gone to someone trying to intentionally flip anyways lol.

Agree!! If I was in the market I would GLADLY buy from you. I already have a Sub though. I wonder is this was a BLNR, HULK, or SS Skydweller would people still be complaining? I’m sure it would have sold faster then the second comment. Lol

Did someone say this is the reason why we can’t find SS models in AD’s? We can’t find SS models because Rolex is not releasing them in great quantity. End of story.

Thx for the gesture OP!

Good for you man and honestly hope this builds your relationship for your AD. Win win for everyone. Maybe you are becoming a “big spender” and your AD will give you an opportunity to buy a hard to obtain model.

I can't believe the OP is coping heat over trying to do something nice. Just shows how retarded the world can be. If it was me, I'd buy and flip for profit with zero f#%ks given. Rare to find someone willing to help out strangers. =)
