I remember when it was released back in 2004 for about £3000 if I remember correctly. I was desperate for a steel datejust with the new concealed clasp jubilee but there was only the the turn o graph that had it at the time and I just couldn't buy one I hated it and still do. Why do americans call it the thunderbird by the way?

A bit of history about the origin of the TOG... the link contains clickable text that tells a little more about the modern-day version.

Chris is correct the TOG isn't in the 2011-2012 Master Catalogue.

I hate to see it go.
Not that I'd have ever bought one. It's just that I think that it's a beautiful and practical piece. So long, TOG!

Oh well, t'was bound to happen if it was such a poor seller. It's the best/coolest Rolex I've ever owned. I will cherish it more than ever. Best, Mark.

You still have time.
In fact, when I talked to my AD he said his Rolex rep said he could get a few of the styles still, some he could not. There's always pre-loved. Talk with DavidSW or the other reputable sellers here asap. I can see why it needs to go based on it being a slower seller... those non-wis would rather get a sports watch or go for a dressier DJ. Too bad us WIS who realized the important place the watch played in being dress-versatile and historical are greatly outnumbered. |

It was a very nice design - especially with the red trimmings - but at 36mm perhaps too small for today's tastes.
If only if had been upsized to 39mm... |

Rudy is actually the President of Wempe, apologies sir for my typo... Now for the customary pics of Madonna (my TOG)... Just out and about in the city, on the West Side Highway and San Juan PR... Still sad to see her discontinued, however, as the saying goes... All good things must come to an end...

I thought the newly designed TOG was a big improvement
over the ol' T-Bird, and somehow more handsome too! I'll miss the sucker! |

Forgive me chaps, but what is the difference between the Datejust and the Datejust Tog? I know the bezel markings but then there is the engine turned bezel Datejust which also has similar markings. Is it just the pointy second hand and the red bits? Allow me to get my flame proof underwear please.

Personally I'm not a fan of them. I really do not like the feel of the bezel-there are no indents (clicks) and it feels as if it is just a bezel that has loosened up. Also the fluted and engine turned bezels are my least favorite, as well as not liking jubilee bracelets. I guess for me there wasn much to like. Oh well, to each their own. |

Have always liked the blue-faced oyster TOG since I got into Rolex's back around 2005. I was happy to be able to get one last month for the 2006 price .
Never understood why the watch wasn't more popular, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. |
