Icon4 My flipping days are over! I’m done with it All!

I mean with flipping that is...!

As you can see by signature that I have had a boat load of Rolex Watches.

What does one have to do to go from a serial flipper to a collector?

Collector of Rolex or collector of watches ?
Seems like you've arrived at some Rolex you can hang on to, start looking at watches from other brands, (that are not necessarily PP or AP), there are many beautiful and interesting options out there, often offering better value especially if bought from a TS.
DavidSW, Drster, Takuya etc all have pretty good prices on non Rolex watches.......

Well, after a lot of struggle, I've got back down to one Rolex, which is quite enough for me. It's a white gold DD40, due quite soon. I have one other good watch, from Germany. Enough of the whole 'collection' and 'flipping' thing. Been there, done that.

I totally agree on all points. To really be frank, I think it is a normal transition for someone to go from a flipper to a collector.

I have gained a great deal of watch knowledge and consider myself a WIS.

I think thru all the flipping, I have learned what I like on a more physical level, because flipping really allows one to know what he/she likes

I bleed Rolex green, but I do think looking at other brands would help fill out ones collection, as astutely mentioned here

I think you are correct, to a degree.

I used to flip like mad. I do so much much less. I was likely, at one point, known as one of the top three most prolific flippers on TRF. A bit of a dubious honor.

Anyway, my moves have shown down considerably. And, I think a lot more about what I am going to do. I will flip watches, but I dont really consider myself a flipper anymore.

All that said, I don't think of myself as a collector either. I just like watches, and think I finally found the ones that suit what I am looking for.

After my last Omega comes in, I hope to be done with all this for a long time...and simply enjoy what I have.

Edit to include that I really think you are spot on with the experience flipping gives you. I am quite clear now on what I want in a watch or watches.
