A One or two Rolex collection...what would you choose?
I’ve been posting about this recently and it seems I’m still a bit undecided on the next one.
My options currently are: 1. The DD 40 in WG 228239 2. The SS Daytona 116500 + perhaps a DJ 41 I’m kind of romanticising the notion of having the DD 40 as the Rolex to end my flipping, at least for awhile. On the other hand, the two Rolex option still sings to me because, well, two watches are generally better than one. Of all the three, I’ve never owned a DD. I’ve owned a 116520, a DJ36 and DJ2. The rest of my collection would be - a PP 5711 - PP 5227 - Omega Speedmaster Pro - Breguet Type XX Thought it would be nice to hear your responses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

DD40. Get the one that you want, not the two replacements.

With your collection I'd get the DD40 as my Rolex. I'd sell another and get the D500 if you can.

Of an obtainable watch I would go with the DD40. If you could get a Daytona-C from an AD at msrp I would consider that also. I would not pay the premium. If you need a second Rolex I would pickup a Submariner ND-C. Clean and simple dial and a real cool watch when you would not want to wear the DD.

I like the Daytona/DJ combo and it gives you nice variety.
You have a great collection there ... I might also consider a Rolex Sumariner and perhaps PM at that. Good luck |

I'd get the Daytona (for a sport version with the chronograph functionality) and the DateJust (for its versatility to be dressed up and casual without being too sporty). The DD seems to only have the ability to be a dressy watch, but if it sings to you more than the DJ then go for that. I would NOT get both the DD and the DJ as they are aesthetically the same watch with subtle (yet noticeable) differences and would not give you any real Rolex-versatility in your collection.

WG DD is on my short list. Can't go wrong with that.

Don't care for other brands at this point in my collecting journey (been at this 30 years, owning Rolex, Tudor, Breitling, Omega, AP, Patek, Vacheron, Cartier, Breguet, U Nardin, IWC just to name a few but always found myself going back to Rolex), so for me, choice of two would be Day-Date WG 40 and Daytona SS 500.
