There are a number of threads on this Forum regarding 34mm vs. 36mm, my advice remains to TRY ON the watch to know if you like it. The 1500 is a solid watch that doesn't get much attention from collectors because of the size. I have bought from Tourneau in my life, they are always on the top end of retail for pre-owned Rolex without being particularly knowledgeable about what they are selling: they know everything about current product lines, but vintage is a big field, so if they mis-identified a size, think ignorance or carelessness over nefarious intent. If you love mosaic dials, they are available in the 36mm size, usually 1601s, but are less common than the 34mm, in terms of availability.

If you are in NY I suggest the same thing, to go and try it on, is the only way to get the feeling of the size on your wrist.

I think you can get more watch for your money not going to Tourneau. At 4k you should be able to get an actual 36mm Datejust. Feel free to PM me if you need help with some good places to be searching. Also, this forum has a great for sale section.

A "Boy's" 28 mm case on my 6 1/2" wrist along with a 34 mm circle. Also, a shot of a 40 mm GMT on the same 6 1/2" wrist. I'm pretty sure I'd be fine with a Ref. 1500 34 mm OP Date.

I wouldn't buy from a dealer who doesn't know what size the case is and provides such bland over-exposed photos... 4k is also rather high for this model. The hands are also bright white, which suggests they're replacements. This watch is targeted at a noob.

I'd look at at getting an all-original 36 mm DateJust from a trusted dealer. Either someone on this forum or a reliable known entity like HQ Milton or Tropical Watch. Good luck with it!

If you actually do visit Tourneau, be sure to try multiple versions of this watch. I have a colleague who rocks one with a diamond bezel, non-diamond dial. I had the engine-turned bezel version (1501 maybe?) but I wasn't wearing it enough, so it was sold. It's a great watch, I sold mine for a lot less than $4k, but it was two years ago.
