Cartier Tank Size and Movement

I’ve always liked the Cartier Tank. I’d like to get one as close to the original spec. I believe it is what Cartier refers to as the small which is 29.5mm x 22mm. What about Quartz or Automatic? This watch will be a once in a while kind of wear.

To my knowledge, the only automatic in the Tank line is the XL. I have it and love it

^^^ what was said above, only the XL has an automatic movement. Wife and I share wearing it and love it! Great warranty too.

I have gone down this road but ended up with a reverso. My memory of everything I learned is a bit foggy so I may be a mm off on some stats. The original tank was 23.5 by 30 or so which includes the lug length. They were manual only. If you looks at vintage tanks you will find tanks and tank louis. Tanks are plated silver for the most part and louis is solid gold. 1500 for tank 4000 and up for louis. Current production have tank solo and louis. The solo have three sizes, the smallest within a mm of original size but smaller dial with fatter lugs and looks more feminine and only in quartz, the med which is called large is the same size as the first ever automatic tank louis called the jumbo. It is only quartz and I think a great size. The last is the XL which is auto but pretty large compared to original tanks. Current louis come is a quartz yellow gold and a rose gold manual wind, both around 25mm and look great in my opinion. But it’s a lot of money for a quartz watch and the manual are even more. The large quartz solos are a pretty good bargain in my book but for the same money I got a gold manual reverso in an original size so I went with that

Thanks for the photos, I start to have a look lately on Cartier Tank Solo/Louis and JLC for reverso, having also hard time to chose.
Good topic and I hope others will step in with more photos

Thank you. Really in love with this one. Surprised that I actually prefer it with more casual outfits though.
