I faced same problem with few ADs in middle eastern countries.

I am very much tempted to report these incidents but not sure how to do that.

When I threatened one of them to report him, he calmly responded: rolex doesn't interfere in the price / way we sell our watches

That may apply to an AD selling Daytonas out the back door for an extra 3 grand but not for many, many other things.

Wow. What a thread. This one is unique in its venom, imho.

Personally, it seems like a worthy topic for discussion. Not sure why everyone jumped ugly so fast.

But maybe some language has been altered or whatnot. Shenanigans may have ensued.

A fun read though. Curious to see if it will fizzle out or turn epic.

Nothing better than drama on an Internet forum

+1

To clarify my understanding of OP opener: OP was talking to an AD and a reseller regarding a ceramic SS Daytona when he realized that it was the same person. Hence his conclusion is that the AD is selling desirable timepieces above MSPR by pretending to pass them through a reseller.

I don't know what is my stance on the issue. One may say that the AD is capitalizing on the inflated demand that resellers sometime create. Others may say that the AD should either sell at higher MSRP right out (and perhaps judge it unethical) or stick to MRSP.

Now that I think about it, OP has a good point

If an AD sells a DaytonaC to reseller at MSRP in exchange for the reseller buying slow-moving TT or PM product, I don't see anything wrong with it. That's the same reason many TRF members got early allocations

But this AD is booking two tickets on the Daytona Profit Train. They're taking stock from Rolex at ~62% of MSRP, selling to a related party (posing as a 3rd party) at MSRP, and then selling to customers at a premium. Surely their AD agreement with Rolex does not allow them to move their inventory through a related company

If you see something amiss with an AD it often comes here for a lively debate...
...like AD snubbed me
...AD didn't like my shorts
...AD gave my Daytona 500 to a friend
...but I was 1st!!!!

So I see the topic as a valid discussion of ethics among ADs. After all, the stickered 500's fetching almost $20K are coming from somewhere - they aren't just falling to Earth of their own accord.

I guess if you had incontrovertible evidence, Rolex USA should get an alert if you fall into the "see something, say something" cohort. If you are in the "mind your own business" camp, then this whole discussion is moot.

If you believe in fairness, no explanation is necessary; if you don't, no explanation is sufficient...

No intention of reporting them and I have no real problem with resellers who mark the prices of a watch up....other than they got the watch and not me !
so, the AD or salesrep at the AD is also their inhouse reseller or a TS moonlighter --- this is news?

Proof that nothing in this world should come as a surprise. Up to you to decide what you would do with this info.

I know it doesn't apply to this and no offence to you or your dad but if referring to something that results in harm to other living creatures this would be the worst course of action to follow.
