Nice dress shoe collection!

My newest pair are from Floris van Bommel. A Dutch shoe makers family.

Thanks. There is a sale going on at AE right now... but ends tomorrow:

http://www.allenedmonds.com/sale/red...e-shoes/boots/

I went in to buy the Dalton Wingtip, but I much preferred theo ne that I ended up buying, they call it Sullivan... the salesperson saw my sad face when I realized that this one was not on sale, and he gave me 15% off

Still loving my iron rangers. Works fine with Chinos / business casual outfits, as well as with jeans. Rolled cuffs, cuffs over the boot, it all works.

Looking good Bas. How are they breaking in? I read some comments in your other thread about these being tough to break in.

Damn it. I swore no more AE...

Stopped by to check out the sale yesterday and impulsively bought some walnut Daltons with a dainite sole.

Should be here in a few days.

I think AE is great twice a year during sales. There is absolutely no point in ever paying full price.

Thanks Wes.

They were a little stiff in the beginning but not uncomfortable at all, and now they fit like a glove. I love them

I think you might be one of the lucky ones. An easy break in is not generally what one hears of and since my break in was fairly hard that is probably the way I will always think of the break in process. In the long run however I am extremely happy with my Redwings as they are most certainly are one great pair of boots.

Funny, it was a toss up between what you bought and the Dark Chile Dalton’s on a leather sole. After two days I chose the Dark Chile Daltons. The sale was too good to pass up.

I had to get a EEE width. Seemed to fit well when I tried them on, but will see again when they are delivered to the store.

They only offer black and walnut with dainite soles. Would probably have gotten another pair so I'm glad there weren't more options.

I am struggling with which pair of G&G's to buy. Same model, one in chestnut English grain and the other in vintage cedar. They will be work boots, which inspires me to go for English grain. But the vintage cedar is a great looking leather.

Decisions, decisions.

Well Zug first, but if not available then I would most certainly opt for the grain as well.

Those are some pricey work boots my friend!

I'd go for the English grain, I love the texture
Why G&G and not the EG Galway boots? is one better than the other or purely a style preference?

The Galway really is an icon which can be had on a good number of Lasts and numerous different and combinations of different leathers. The 64 Last being the most country looking Last and the 82 being a great casual type boot.

The G&G Glencoe really is a fairly new boot just coming out but a few years ago. But then again G&G is a realitively new shoemaker.

Different styles, yes. But as mentioned one is an Icon and the other is just a really nice looking boot. But whether you choose Edward Green or G&G you really can’t go wrong.

None of the Galway lasts fit me well and I can live without an EG MTO. These are off the shelf and G&G lasts fit me perfectly (better fit than my trainers), which makes G&G the go to brand.

They are pricey, but will last many times longer than other work boots. Once you amortize the cost over the life of the boot they come out about the same price per year as mid-range work boots (about $300).

I went with the English grain. They're a wide size, which will take a few weeks longer to get here. I'll post picks when they arrive. As you can see from this picture, I'm ready for a new boot.

Ah yes, fit. Sometimes fit just gets lost in the equation somehow. I’ve really been pretty fortunate for the most part when it comes to finding Lasts that fit me. Loafers really are my biggest challenge since one of my feet are a half size larger than the other. Something you can reasonably deal with laced shoes but not loafers.

I have always opted for the casual look and Chelsea Boots are my favorites, Timberland Earthkeepers in particular. I have so many pairs that I feel embarrassed in trumping my wife's total shoe collection by 4-5 times.
My favorites these days for weekend casual wear are the Red Wings (4 pairs) and the Wolverine 1000 miles. I am a sick man and now my interests have moved to Rolex. haha

A few weeks ago and with autumn approacjing thought I would start looking for boots and as I was up town (London) and close to Jermyn St went into Edward Green.
Could not resist their Galway boots in calf & mink suede.
Colour dark oak, double thickness leather sole in last 82.
They are very comfortable to wear being comparatively light compared with most other boots and easy to wear with a suit.
I do rather like them!
These are my first Edward Greens as my usual wear is Crockett & Jones or Russell & Bromley.
These three makes cover an interesting range of prices!

Nice boots! Those look like HAF soles to me. I didn’t realize EG used those soles for their Galway boots.

And here I thought TRF would just be enabling my watch addiction!

Picked up some Red Wing Iron Rangers this week. Not exactly dress shoes, but darn good looking boots nonetheless.

LOL

My favorite saying is that I have a collection of footwear that would make most women jealous.

Well, if I’m not mistaken I think that’s a Galway.

Congrats!!

Once you go there you just simply can’t go back. Besides Galway’s are like Lays potatoes chips you just can’t possibly stop at just one pair when there are so many different possibilities. You wouldn’t happen to know what Zug is would you? Oh, and a great pair of shoes to offset or go with your Galway’s would be a pair of EG Dovers in Dark Oak or Mahogany Grain. Another Edward Green Icon. Split Toe Handsewn Apron. They sew it with a boars bristle by the way.

By the way Wes likes to say I’m a pesky enabler. But just between you and me I think Wes has no idea what he’s talking about.

By the way have you heard about G&G and what they have to offer?

The thing is there are so many possibilities, but generally speaking all it takes is a request and very often it can be done. Sometimes it just may require you paying that pesky MTO fee to get it exactly the way you want it. I still say Dainite is the best sole for this type of boot.
