For the gun enthusiasts

Recently had some "security" issues at work. Haven't owned a gun since my kids were born under strict orders from the Wife. Had a S&W.38 and a .380 Beretta and a concealed weapons permit. Sold the guns, let the permit lapse.

Anyway, just ordered this Ruger 9mm Model 95 in steel and wonder if any of you have any familiarity with or opinions about the gun. Gun felt great. 15 rounds in the clip plus one in the chamber. A little big to conceal but I really liked it.

Thanks.

I know nothing of that particular model. I usually carry Sigs, myself. But, Ruger is known to be a solid performer, though

I shot a Ruger 9mm a few months ago. Felt great. I personally own a Springfield Armory XD 9mm, Sig Sauer P226 .40 and Keltec .32ACP. But any gun that fit your hand, budget and fires a bullet works for me. Ruger is a great name and they make a great firearm. I also have 10/22 Ruger rifle and it has been flawless.

I have only owned Ruger revolvers, but have friends who have the autos and swear on them. The revolvers I have had were all well made firearms. I used to carry a SP101 357. It was a fun range gun, but was real heavy for CC. For my daily carry I have a Keltec 32ACP as well. Great little gun. My favorite that is in my collection is my Colt 1991 A1. That is my best gun that I use when I go to the range. I like the 45 round, and have had several guns that used that round. I used to have a Glock 21 and prefered the Colt over the Glock. But thats just me. Glocks are also great firearms. Their US headquarters are just down the road from me.

Went to a gun store yesterday here in Reno. Full auto weapons and silencers available for the asking.

Wow.

The Ruger you have is a solid, reliable, no frills handgun. Very decent gun for the money. Will serve you well. Congrads!

A clip is something that holds rounds so they can be inserted into a magazine. i.e. a stripper clip full of 5.56 ammo that makes it easier to load a M16 magazine. Or, on the old Garands (I think that's it) you would feed a clip of ammo into the rifles internal magazine. When the gun was empty, the empty clip would loudly "ping" outta the top of the gun.

Magazines, on the other hand, are inserted directly into a firearm.

Here's a picture of a clip holding ammunition being inserted into a firearms INTERNAL magazine:

Sorry, just figured I'd pass this along.

As far as the gun goes, I can't say anything about them. Ruger, to me, has always seemed bulky and overweight. By looking at the picture, maybe they went on a diet. I, personally, would only purchase their .22's; for some reason, I'm more fond of Sig, Glock, HK, and Springfield. It is nice to see that Ruger is using the rail up front. I recommend a Surefire X200b for home protection and for night time around work.

I am interested to see how you like it and your overall impressions once you get a couple hundred rounds through it.

Enjoy your new piece, and for God's sake, keep it in a secure place!

Ruger semi-autos provide lots of "bang" for the buck, no pun intended. A very reliable pistol! Enjoy your new piece when it arrives.

This is my Ruger P89 9mm semi auto. I'm not so much into guns as I should have. Can't recall how much the magazine capacity but it's the restricted ones or watever you call it. I replaced it with thicker rubberised grips that I can't even recall what's the brand name. . Sincer we're not allowed to conceal guns, I displayed it.
