Wow. Definitely doing this.

All my promos ran out an my latest bill was crazy. I’ll be cutting the cable before I continue paying this price.

All I really need is internet anyway.

We pay $70 month for internet.

Our DirecTV bill was $170 with no premium channels. 5tv's.

We upgraded our wireless router for $200. We got Netflix for $10 mo. We got DirecTV Now for $35 mo. We put a cheap local antenna on each TV that actually gets watched live (2).

With DTV Now you can log into ABC and NBC apps to watch shows the next day I believe it is. (Not a week or a year later). Only issue we have run into from a programming side is CBS. Can watch live on antenna but need to pay $6 mo to get cbs app if we want to watch Big Bang on demand.

All comes down to the shows you watch and the channels they are on.

The HBO package is more expensive on DTV now but you can get the app for $10 mo.

I like the comment above relating to Comcast/Spectrum and the Loss Mitigation Department. I will be making that call soon. I would also like to find the BEST alternative.

Comcast sucks.
I had Infinity at my last place and it was far superior.
I would leave both if I could get the following:

All the ESPNs
Golf Channel
NBC Universal
All travel and food related channels
BBC America
The two channels that constantly show COPS, the Original and Best reality TV show ever!
Don't so much care about the premium movie channels.

I know that I am terrible negotiator.

However, I thought I would get my bill down.

First point, my wife says she never watches TV. I always dispute this, but I have learned to let this go.

So as I am on the phone with Cablevision, she says, what are you crazy, you can't get rid of all the channels. So I lost out there.

I threatened to go to another provider. That did not work.

I was able to get $25 off each month. $15 because I never use the DVR anyway, and $10 as a promo for the cable boxes.

So I failed. But I did save $300 a year, so I guess that is good.

I'm telling you Seth, it doesn't matter, they don't care if you threaten to leave, not one bit. And the talk above about "mitigation dispute" or retention departments might be true for some cable companies but not for FiOS. I have on three separate occasions been told very nicely to pound sand. But not before they tried to sell me on enhanced DVR or WiFi bandwidth packages...

Lmao. They did actually try and sell me on increased bandwidth. Too funny.
