Anyway, what are the details on the Hutch? A trickstar or pro-something? I only did Haro back in the day but I've had a teal RL20-II that I didn't like (ride like a truck). Always liked the Dyno and rode one several years ago... rides nice too!
All of my Strat Plus guitars have 5 way selectors on them...not sure on the push buttons. The first year colors are fun to hunt down.

I did just lock down an early Custom Shop guitar that has Lace Sensor pick ups with docs all the way down to the original owner's order with all documented modifications. Plays beautifully.

I've been hunting for a Trickstar and a Haro Master. Finding them in good condition and with the accessories I was looking for is tough. My Hutch started as a Pro Raider and was modded (when I was a kid) into a Pro Racer. So it's a bit of a hybrid.

I used to collect girlfriends (20 plus sometimes 2 or 3 at the same time) before I got married. Then after divorce, I started to collect girlfriends again (7) for 2 years before I got married for the 2nd time to my 8th girlfriend. I guess this is it for me ... no more marriage and no more girlfriends.

I just noticed you mentioned the ASM 129. What condition is that in? Thats an awesome one to have for ASM

The one I play with (when I get time) is a titlist conversion I did. Leather wrap too which (I'm told) came out better than some "professional" leather wraps... but I'm not happy with it and have no time to correct it.

The titlist conversions always play awesome. As long as they are left full splice and not cut down to a short splice (My opinion anyway).

My grail is a Gus. More so than a balabuska believe it or not. Even though they are short splice, the feel is really something special. Plus he did a few at 59" which I prefer. George's cues were predominantly 57" and just too short for my monkey arms.

One of the other cues I made is a John Davis blank. He made blanks for Balabuska back in the 70's. he's still at it last I knew. That cue looks the best but the titlist still plays better.

I've always loved the game but never mastered it.
Davis blanks are legendary. So, of course, are Gus's cues.

Yeah, I live in Southern California so I do get to stop in to see Ernie whenever I'm in the valley. He's always there working. I wasn't even old enough to drive when I bought that domino cue. I had to take three buses to his house, he was building cues in his garage back then. Now, his shop is state of the art. Typical Ernie, he built many of the machines himself. Last time he put a tip on for me, the shaft went on three different lathes, lol! He has a lathe dedicated for each specific task.

Very cool. I was building in the 90's and my partner had (probably still has) one of the early Japan strats. I imagine you know all about those but they were really something when the mainstream strats were less than stellar...

I have a NOS 1986 white/chrome master frame and fork. That was the one I rode in the day so I had to get it back. The rider is chrome- well, it was, now its rust/chrome so I went over the decal and changed it from Master to Ruster. It has 401's and nippons with peregrine 48's. sweet ride that looks a bit rough. I thought of copper plating it for something different. After I mod it with disc brakes of course... (in my spare time?)

That's awesome. When you have the space and cash flow, keeping a set up undisturbed makes for very high quality. Ernie knows what he's doing!

I have spent some time with Paul Drexler as he's out this way. Very precise work but lacks the "soul" in my opinion of the guys who made do with what they had. If we're honest with ourselves George's work was bordering on sloppy. But the hit... Damn they hit nice. My goal was to get that 57" feel in my 59" cue... not easy. And completely against the trends to "low deflection" shafts. Mine are high deflection! But the feel is close. Not there but in the right zip code.

I'm an old school, high deflection guy myself. Ivory ferrules and all.

Ernie is a very interesting guy. He makes no apologies for how he works, and the use of CNC and modern techniques. If you haven't seen the TAR interview with him, it is very good:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpl9ANYjjWE

Speaking of collections, he has a very nice collection of racing motorcycles in the back of the shop.

I on off collect random artifacts (roman pottery coins ect). Model railways in different scales. Woodworking tools, which I can usually get away with as I work with them

I have a mid 90s Japan Strat. Best Fender I ever owned. Is it true Fender HQ pulled the license because they were too good? That's what I recall reading a couple of times. I also have a late 90s California series Tele and a 1960s Malibu.

Nikes.
It's bad. I've easily purchased over 500 pairs in my life, and I'm only 30.
Got bored with them a few years ago, and somehow ended up with a war chest of watches now....

Nobody's mentioned wine...

I collect Burgundy reds, although the size of the collection varies as I have a constant battle of wether to keep....or drink.

Ivory is the only ferrule material. It's the only place I use it too. "Cosmetic" ivory for inlay has no value to me but is quite popular. I prefer pearl. I don't care for ivory joints either although they hit fine.

I didn't know Ernie was into racing bikes! That's cool!

My understanding is that Fender showed them how to do it right, and, being Japanese, that is exactly how they did it. The only down side was the finish on the body which was very thick. Otherwise they are killer instruments.

I'm not sure about the license but now they are made in Mexico.

Wow. I used to play pool for money in college in the late 60's. Balabushkas were the grail. I was pretty arrogant and a bit of a hustler so I always used house cues to play, although I practiced with a custom (forgot the name).

Once me and my buddy had to climb out a bathroom window to avoid getting killed in a bar in Oklahoma City, pretty much like the movie The Hustler.

Those were the good ol' days...the life of the road player. Can't get away with it so much anymore. Before you've left the pool hall with a big score in one town your picture has been texted to every pool hall in a 100 mile radius. Not nearly the action of yesteryear. Every where I go it's a bunch of nits who wouldn't bet a dollar that water is wet.
