Datejust questions
Seeing as the Rolex website no longer gives you the option of configuring a Datejust II, replaced entirely by DJ+size (i.e. DJ 41, DJ 36, etc.), do folks think that ADs will be heavily discounting the DJ IIs they have in stock, once the new DJs begin arriving in a month or two? I stopped into my AD yesterday to look at a SS DJ II, fluted bezel, blue dial, and was offered a 20% discount without even asking for it, leading me to believe they may be trying to offload these before the new ones arrive.
Also, aside from the new internal movement, are there any noticeable differences b/w the DJ II and the DJ 41? Plenty (hundreds) of configuration choices are up on the website now, but comparing those pics with pics of the DJ II offered by some of the Trusted Sellers, it's hard to notice any substantial differences. Bottom line here is I'm wondering if it's worth the wait and extra money to get the new version, or if it's better to save likely around $2k and go with the DJ II. |

How can one answer this.. personally I would wait for the new version. The new steel jubilee bracelet looks great. People make a big deal about the case differences but when I have put the new two tone DJ41s next to the older DJ 2s I do notice the differences but to me it's not a huge deal.. I could easily live with either. The way I see it , if you are prepared to spend a crazy amount of cash on a watch , why not spend that little bit more to make sure it's the exact one you want.. I don't know if its is 'worth the extra money' but it's what I would do..

The noticeable difference i see is the size of the markers and the movement.
When winding the dj41 - setting the date is one way and setting the time is another unlike the other Rolex watches you've wound in the same direction. |

I prefer the DJ II and the blue dial with index markers and a fluted bezel is at the top of the list. If you were offered 20% off I would go back and ask for 30% and see what they say. They may come back with 25% or better. At the 20-25% off you should not get hurt to badly on a flip.
