I Sold It (PO) and Bought It Back!

Yes, quite the dumb move I know. I didn't realize how much I would miss it! I rationalized the sale by telling myself that I would get something better and that the PO was too similar to my other watches (Rolex Sub, GMTIIc, SD). The fact is that this watch is near perfection. Hopefully, I'll have more sense this time around and keep it in the stable! Here's a photo of my old PO (I hope to pick up my new one after work):

Good on you mate. I've got several watches (all divers) by Breitling, Omega and Rolex, but the ones that get worn the most are the POs (I have two) and my Sub'. Is it the same as in the picture?

Can't say I blame you mate....

I'll be adding a PO to the collection right after the cLV!

(so that'll be about 2019 I reckon!)

Yep, a PO is an Omega to own! I don't have one yet, but will one day. Enjoy your new one! Cheers, Bill P.

Feels so good to have this back on my wrist:

Great decision mate. Congrats.
Was it the 45.5mm in the first pic and the new one is a 42mm?

Thanks Eric. Both are 42mm. It might just look huge in the first picture because my wrist is small!

This has been done by others as well, so don't feel you are the odd one to do it.

I did it as well. I went PO 42mm, Sea Dweller and back to PO 45mm. The model is superb and the big size fits great on my 7.5 inch wrist.

I sold my PO couple of months ago so I know how you feel. I bought a DJ with the money but I do have to admit; I miss the way the watch curves around your wrists. Even though it is a heavy watch, it felt pretty comfortable on the wrists.

Hanging out with my buddy Joe .... Cup of Joe! I love having the PO back! I considered the LM for a time, but you just can't go wrong with the original for 1/3 the price (pre-owned).

I've been wearing my new Panerai lately, but that picture brings back really fond memories of my PO (its been off my wrist for the last few weeks).

Time to slap the PO on my wrist again.

Did the same, had the 45.5 orange bezel, got rid of it, and had another 45.5 back in my stable in under 9 months. This time with black bezel and orange numbers.

I'm feeling you mate. I sold mine a few months ago, and have started my PO fund ever since. PO's are simply a must have in every collection. So I am awaiting a PO 45.5 Black w/Orange Markers on SS bracelet.

In a similar boat. Sold mine and now I'm debating getting it back, but perhaps one with an orange bezel. My biggest problem with the PO was it's weight (I code and cook and play guitar, so I need something that isn't too heavy) and the way it looked in certain light (weird, I know). But when I see pics of it now, phew, I miss it.

It is quite a chunk isn't it!? I like the feeling of heft, but understand the desire to want something light on the wrist. Did you ever try putting a strap on it? The watch head is still quite heavy, but removing the bracelet in favor of rubber or leather makes a huge difference in weight.

I put it on a nato for a while, but (and much to my surprise) I turned out to be a bracelet guy so there wasn't much escape from the weight. But orange bezel with an orange strap... that might convert me.

I don't think the PO is heavy or chunky at all, and actually quite streamlined. It's fits me and my 6'7" frame with nearly 8.5" wrist fine. Now my PAMs and the Deepsea get chunky, but only from a thickness perspective.

Haha! It's all relative, right? Imagine the Deepsea on someone like me who is 5'9" with 6.5 inch wrists!

I did this drill with a Speedy Pro. Won't be selling it again. At least I sold it to a good WIS buddy...and got a new one at a great AD discount!

I did the same thing with the black bezel 45mm PO- thought it was too similar to my Rolex Submariner and Rolex Deepsea. I missed it too much and bought another 45mm but with the orange bezel/orange #'s and love it- wont be parting with this one again

There's definately something about the PO - I love mine.

I have a GMT Master IIc but can't seem to stop wearing (and admiring) my PO.

I have seen a lot of them 'in the wild' which does put me off a bit though...

Doesn't stop me from thinking how great a watch it is though.

Darwen.

Keep an eye on the For Sale section. They come up regularly and usually for about +/- $2k.

Hope you don't ever want your SMP back because I've hardly taken it off since I bought it from you! A little scratched up around the clasp, but it's a tool to me. BTW...Jackson is a great guy to deal with on watch sales.

Jeff,

I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the Seamaster. Truth be told, I do think fondly of that watch. I think I need to stop selling watches. Too bad there is always another one tempting me (and I need the cash to move on to that next thing)! Here's some pictures I love to look at of my .... I mean your watch!!!

Try it on a mesh if you are not a strap guy, they look quite chunky but are fairly light in comparison to the bracelet and are fantastically comfortable.
