Icon5 Opinion, new purchase

Today I found this Breitling

A Breitling Skyracer Raven Mens Watch A2736423-C804-SS, I believe, at least that is the closest picture I could find.

I very much loved it and would like to get one. I am just concerned if this is a good model, and will it hold it's value.

Or can you recommend something that would be similar. What I liked was the face, size, as well as the polished bracelet. It fit me well.

I will probably see if I can find one here in the forums at a better price.

The one I saw today was at a local jewelry store having a sale on used watches, and they are not an authorized dealer. They wanted $3750, but no paperwork, box or anything.

I would appreciate any and all opinions, as I am new to Breitling.

thanks,

Scott

Good looking watch; I own a Navitimer and an Evolution and love them both. Blue is a great dial color

Please buy a watch that you love and not based on will it go up or down in value. A watch is only worth what somebody will buy it for on any given day.

With that being said, that combination of blue with black sub dials will not be seen everyday. I have never seen one for sale on our forum. You could start hanging out at the Breitling Forums and seeing what's for sale there.

This watch is not that old; box, manuals and papers would be nice but not a deal breaker IMO if this was my daily wear watch. I don't know what retail is on that watch, but I wouldn't feel comfortable owning it unless I paid in the very low $3,000's. Plus, you have sales tax issues to consider.

Are they offering you a warranty? What do you know about the store?

Welcome

Thanks for the response... this was the only picture that I could find, but the actual watch had a black face, but there as an anti-glare coating on the crystal that would give off a blue tint at times.

I missed the deal on the watch.

So I guess my real question now is; Which Breitling would be best for me considering that I very much liked this one.

Thanks,

Scott

A quick search on the "bay" shows these priced between $4,000 and $5,000 with no blue faced ones currently for sale.

I like many of the Navitimers and they can be had in black, blue or with white dials the Navitimer World's are very popular right now.

Icon14 Got it!

Well I got it... the dealer had it longer than expected, so I was able to make a deal and pick it up last night.

I love it, it is a very good looking watch and fits me well, I love the polished band, as well as the odd blue hue the anti-glare crystal puts off.

Now I have no manuals, and I have not been able to find anything on the internet.

I am trying to figure out how to properly set it, as I am not sure I have the AM/PM correct, as the date did not change when it should have. I can't figure it would be anything complicated, but I just want to make sure.

I would also like to know how the dial works, there a like a billion numbers and symbols there, and they rotate at a different pace from the bezel, so I am quite confused. This would be nice to know, not that I need it...

Any ideas where I can find instructions on how to read this thing?

thanks!

Scott

Great watch, I like the black bezel, the inner bezel is a slide rule, google it and you should get a heads up on how it works. Cheers

I have searched high an low, and found nothing technical on this watch, nothing on how to set, nor what the dial does or how it works...

Searching google for Breitling will find me plenty for sale, but nothing about usage or a manual. Strange in my book, especially for a watch with such a complicated face.

thanks...

Scott, you may have to try a AD and see if they have any instruction manua/ls. I recall seeing something a while ago, I cannot remember if it was online. I'll have a quick search for you. Cheers.

Thanks for the link... not sure how much I use it with an iPhone close by, but it is always nice to know it is there.

Check this link out:

http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch...ional_201.html

Breitlingsource is great for research...the watch was made for only a short period of time 2009-2011, so you won't see one on every wrist

I like the rubber bezel, unique

I bet a good AD can source a manual for you-

A nice watch but the dial is a little too busy for my taste. Congrats!

I am really starting to love this watch, and now that I know I can use the dial for interesting things it is even better

To be honest I love the rubber bezel with the steel numbers showing through, and the blue anti-glare tint is way cool.

Thank you all the help guys.

I wanted to see what my Skyracer would be like with a leather band, but I didn't want to plunk down all the cash for a official Breitling deployant setup, plus there are no dealers anywhere close... At the recommendation of the forum I picked up a couple of bands and clasp from eBay, Bobs Bands, They also have a direct website I found later: Waccex
They were a great price and arrived in only a few days all the way from Germany. I love the quality and I think it completely changes the watch.

So far I love it, enough that I will probably not even go for the full Breitling version.

I am attaching a couple of iPhone pictures.
