That's plastic covers to stop the watch being damaged pre-sale. They're all over new Rolexes.

You are correct about the plastic overlays. If you look to the sides of each pusher, you can see the edge of the overlays.

I thought the dial looked odd but the seller looks good and so is the watch. Remember buy the seller and the watch will follow.
