Hi there!

Yes, the current non-chrono ATs will be (or already are) discontinued, as they
are going to be replaced by this year's new AT models that feature Omega's
new ingenious cal. 8500/8501 movements!

Omega's new chronograph movement, the cal. 9300 is scheduled to make its
debut at BaselWorld 2010 (if nothing else changes), and as of now it is
unknown what model it will debut in... It'd be great if they chose to debut
their new 9300 chrono in the AT-chronograph series, but if I had to guess,
it is more likely to be in a model of the HV range (or something similar),
and the 9300 and its derivatives will then make it to other models from
2011 on...

@Chip: Wow!!! Amazingly wonderful pictures of your AT chrono!!!
Stunning photography of a stunningly beautiful watch!!!

---> Sorry... double-post! <---

================================================== ==

Update... Well... I just thought I'd use this unfortunate double-post to
post some info on the Beijing 2008 AT chronographs (as I've thrown an
eye on the SS version of it)!

Here's the info from Omega's website: Reference: 221.10.42.40.01.001

And here's an image I just "photochoped"... that's how I'd like to wear it
(should I actually get this watch)...:

I think it somehow cries out for a strap...

Oh well... just some thoughts rectifying the initial double-post...

after reading too many horror stories with the 33xx movement, i'm staying away from the AT chrono

i'm loving my non-chrono AT 2503.50, though

Yes, Maria at Omega CH is very helpful. That AT Chrono looks great. Excellent photography too.

My AT is my most worn non-Rolex watch. Very functional

I like the clean looks of the Aqua Terra. I don't have big wrists and would go with the mid-size. It would be like an Air-King with date.
What sort of service interval is expected? It was mentioned that the co-axial movement gives a longer service interval. Would it be longer than the 5-7 years that Rolex suggests?

Here is my beloved AT. Purchased April 2007 in the UK. A very particularly interesting story on this one, because I had literally one day to find the best deal on this, so I was moving and running around London to get it. I finally found it at a shop that was having a move-out sale. I was going to go for the white/blue indices combo but this was selling at a lower price. It's my "formal" watch, so to speak, and has the most sentimental value to me as well thus far (all that taxi rides and underground costs probably jacked up the price a bit though).

Pardon the lousy photo...

It's a great watch, and thanks for the reviews!

Gentlemen,
I am new to the forum and have a quick question. I am considering buying an Aqua Terra chronometer and found some reasonable prices from various internet sites, including one through Amazon.com. However, it seems that buying from an authorized dealer, despite costing more, may offer some advantages. Can anyone advise me on what such advantages might be and would they really set of an approximately $800 difference in price? Thanks in advance.

You don't get the Omega warranty but the grey dealers throw in their own. You can't order the COSC Cert. Some ADs will get very close to the grey dealers price, so don't go with an $800 difference.

Thank you for your advice, Perdu. I am really struggling because for this watch I am able to get a grey dealer's price of $3,500-$3,800 and the AD's are quoting me from $4,500 to $5,500. By the way, the watch in question is a model 2304.30 (steel and rose gold). I am going to keep looking, but the price difference is significant...

Mageno, was in the same situation, when I wanted to purchase the AT that I have now. In the end I bought from an AD, one, because he came very close to the grey market prices and to get the full warranty and cert. PM me, if you need contact info for the AD, was very friendly and reliable - also considering I ordered in the US via phone from Germany...
