Icon2 NY new guy here...

What's up, just checking in for the 1st time here.

A few questions:

1. I'm in the market for a Rolex 16014 Datejust... black dial preferably. Looking to add a black leather strap to it.

a) What's a good going rate for that piece in outstanding conditions?

b) What should I look out for when purchasing vintage pieces like that?

c) What leather strap companies are the best, with links if possible, for such a piece? Looking for a black strap, nothing flashy, simple brilliance.

2. Highly interested in a Rolex Explorer II Watch: 904L steel - 216570... white dial. What are good prices for this piece? Pre-owned, obviously.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums! You can get a pretty good ballpark figure of any Rolex's value with these 3 resources: watchrecon.com, bobswatches.com, and ebay.com completed listings.

For leather straps, many people recommend Hirsch . Personally I like straps from Jankoxxx. I'm a big fan of straps made from Horween shell cordovan; it's an incredibly comfortable type of horse leather.

Also, lots of people on here like to put custom endlinks with their leather straps.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Quick question, how reliable is chrono24.com?

Do they have custom end links for vintage datejust pieces?

Again, Thanks.

I'd recommend PM'ing user smartyjones18 on this forum; he makes custom endlinks and I doubt that would be a problem for him.

Chrono24 is a respectable site but you have to do your due diligence when buying from a seller there, just like you would on eBay.

So, Chrono 24 can sell fakes etc?

Sorry for my ignorance.

Welcome and good luck in your search. There are lots of great trusted sellers here. I'd also suggest going to a local AD to try on different models
