I was trying to figure out why a known good forum seller was not replying but now see nothing in my sent box? What is wrong?

You need to ensure that you have ticked the box "save sent items" in the pm menu at your User CP

Many of them also list a cell# or email addy. You could always ask via those contact points if the PM came through…
