Winding Question
Just curious to know which type of motion is more conducive to the winding mechanism in automatic watches.
Is it a vertical motion similar to swinging your arms while walking? Is it a horizontal motion similar to an umpires safe call? Is it a circular motion of some kind? Or does any type of motion wind a watch equally? No, I don’t plan on walking through the neighborhood waving my arms like a castaway on a desert island trying to attract attention…just curious.

Same motion as a Shake Weight.

As long as the winding pendulum is moving its winding as Rolex winds both ways.

Winding Question
I don’t think a pendulum will swing if it moves just (purely) vertically or horizontally. I think it’s got to be a mix, so I’ll go with circular.
