Icon20 Finally Pam 233 discontinued..

How this will effect the sales of Pam233 in the used market? Do you think that prices will go up like the hulk or will their prices stay the same?

It could go up, or go down. Ten years from now could be double, or the same. Hard to tell on demand, check back in a few years,

Feel like PAMs have taken a hit with the whole in-house thing kicking around

233 is a fine watch. IMHO one of the best watches in the last 25 years. Pure design. If they are not making new ones the existing watches could only be more valuable. For me, not what is is worth, just that it is so well done.

Gotta say, i went with the 1033 with 9011 movement and she has been the most erratic timekeeper of any timepiece ever owned after over two decades as an enthusiast. And yes, it's been to service, twice.

Basically, it is inconsistent for the first 48 hours of use until it 'settles down'. Yesterday was day 1 and the 1033 was gaining a lot of time (30 seconds after a few hours). So I 'reset' it last night and this morning it is behind about 20 seconds. So just reset it again and we'll see it goes during today.

In hindsight, wish I had gotten the 233 instead of the 1033. Ah well.

To the OP - Where did you hear it was discontinued? I just did an internet search on “Panerai 233 discontinued” and found pasts going back as far as 2008 on various forums where sales people had claimed it was discontinued/etc. - seems a perennial rumor.

Regardless, it's a terrific Panerai reference.

I got one when they first came out, was a great hype watch. I still love the shape more than the size, and the tunnel strap works wonderfully with it. However when PAM came out with so many models like the 510 with more basic 8 day movements, the value of the 233 took a hit.

Out of stock isn't the same as discontinued.

I have the even more exclusive Fiddy 127. It hasn’t moved the needle on price appreciation in around 18 months. So I’m not sure a mass produced piece like the 233 will fair better. I could be wrong and have no idea what price the 233 is at compared to retail.

Likely not discontinued, but since we are talking about it, here is a gratuitous wrist shot of my favorite pam.

Thanks! It's a storm blue strap with natural stitching, from Toshi Straps. One of my favorites.

PAM 312 has been discontinued since 2018

Discontinued is effective when demand is high and production is low,
but if it was discontinued after hundreds of thousands being pumped in, it will not have much desirable outcome.

It could spike a little but PAM is watered down with so many similar models. They just don't appreciate well or quickly. Always has been a more niche brand so enthusiasts might pay more but regular ole' Joes will look at alternatives quick. The demand just isn't there.

Definitely taking the pessimist side here.

233 is my favorite Pam I own, the dot dial once properly serviced with newly designed parts hopefully rises in price.
