Blacksteel

I have noticed a few threads where people have mentioned they shy away from Blacksteel watches due the potential for scratches. I have owned a Superocean II 44 Special with a military strap/blacksteel deployant clasp for almost two years. I hope I am not jinxing myself, but it has yet to show any scratches after being subjected to such things as office desks, dive boat ladders, metal patio furniture, and seat belt buckles. I once thought I had scratched it on an iron patio chair, but after wiping the chair’s paint flecks off, there was no scratch on the clasp. I am not saying it's impossible to scratch, but this DLC coating is tough!

You are right, it is very tough. The first couple generations of BSS watches were prone to the black scratching off, but it is much thicker and better now. Cool watch!

I agree. Have a Avenger GMT II in blacksteel with the same strap/deployment clasp, it's a year old, has been very durable and seemingly scratch resistant thus far.
