New Breitling Purchase

First-time poster... Long story short a local AD for Tudor was having a liquidation sale so I went in to see what they had. Ended up buying a Tudor Black Shield for a pretty good deal. Got home and had buyers remorse as I wear suits 4 days a week.

Dealer carries Breitling so told me he would give me store credit , but no refund since it was a liquidation. Don’t know much about Breitling, but since I was “handcuffed” went ahead and purchased the Breitling Superocean Heritage II B20 Automatic in 46mm case with mesh bracelet.

Love the larger watch and the mesh bracelet. But of course, as soon as I left and started reading forums, the Breitling naysayers (especially over Omega) were prettt strong.

Looking for your thoughts on this watch. I live in Kansas Citybso had it shipped to my work address on the Missouri side to save sales tax so don’t have actual pics, but have attached website pics.

I’ve been a Tag Heuer wearer previously, mainly because I don’t know much about watches. Probably why I’m having a hard time deciding if I went the right direction or not.

As long as your wrist can accommodate the 46mm and you like the watch, I think you made a fine choice. Breitling makes a great watch and is superior to Tudor, if not Omega or Rolex, in my opinion. I added a Super Ocean Heritage II 42mm Copperhead Bronze on the Milanese bracelet a few months ago and it's getting a lot of wrist time. Breitling is definitely a nice step up above TAG Heuer. Also, although this watch has a Tudor movement, which is in no way a bad thing, it is finished to a higher level than what Tudor is putting into their own watches.

I also have a brown 42mm SOHII that also gets lots of wrist time. Congrats. I assume you already know it’s a Tudor movement.

It's a great watch and if you like it, it doesn't matter what others say. I've got the newer chrono version on the mesh and I love it. The heritage models look so much nicer once they added the ceramic bezels.

Ended up switching to the same watch, but in the 44mm size. My wrist is 7 inches and pretty flat so the 46mm worked, but the 44mm is the sweet spot for me. AD didn’t have one in stock so I didn’t even know they made them until researching last night.

Of course he had to order it so will be a few weeks, but excited.

The 44mm version is a little nicer looking with the date window in black to match the dial.

buy what you love - not what 'others' like.

if you like it, thats all that matters.

if your worried regards resale, nothing to choose between Omega & Breitling - both pretty woefull tbf.

I have a boatload of children (6 ) so will just give a watch to each kiddo at some point. Won’t be looking to re-sell so that’s not a big issue. Definitely glad I made the purchase. Just wish I had it to wear already!

Yes, some of the so called watch aficionados will poo poo Breitling, but for reasons like frequent model change overs, price discounting, non proprietary movements but not usually about watches themselves.
Their Super Ocean line is a great range of timepieces. I bought an Avenger GMT last year, it’s a terrific casual, rugged watch, I really like it.
One has to be careful when buying watches, they’re shiny and beautiful in the store, be sure to take a breath, think before you buy.

The SO on meah is a great looking watch. And if you have the wrist size to pull it off then it works well with dress or casual clothing.

Personally there is nothing bad I can say about the brand. I have had my move affaor with Breitling, in fact I have owned the following:

Super avenger
Bentley motors T speed
Chronomat Evo
Bentley Motors GT
Bentley motors GT ice

All of which were great watches. Hope you enjoy your new watch

Love the SOH. Nice choice. I wish I had known there was a liquidation - I live about an hour from KC.

Personally, I seem to fancy Breitling over Omega. I know that may not be the trend, but it is what it is I guess.

I have two Breitlings, in addition to my GMT, and love them.

Interesting fact: Breitling and Tudor actually share movements and your SuperOcean Heritage is using a Tudor movement, whereas the Black Bay uses a Breitling movement.

I own couple Rolex and an Ap, but I find my Breitling SOH (the same exact model as yours) getting a lot of wrist time. I got mine in leather strap, thinking about getting the mesh strap as well.

Those really are nice watches. After (and whenever the 16613 for which a jeweler is looking) arrives my next purchase is going to be one of those SOH's. With the mesh, in blue or the older brown/copper, no chronograph and preferably in 42 to sit upon a 7-inch wrist.

Glad to see yours arrived and congratulations.

Some Breitling references are fantastic, the only thing that keeps most of us away has historically been the sizes offered. I love the brand and where it is headed.
