Bought 1982 Oyster Perpetual on Ebay w/o papers, having trouble authenticating

Yesterday I ordered a 1982 Oyster Perpetual 34MM (box, no papers) from a non authorized dealer on Ebay. I live in NYC and I thought it would be easy to authenticate the watch’s authenticity, but this isn’t turning out to be the case. Both Tourneau and Wempe have told me that they can’t authenticate Rolexes, and the Rolex dealership has told me they won’t be able to authenticate the watch if I take it in.

I have a 30 day window to return the watch, so I would appreciate if you could weigh in on it’s authenticity as quickly as possible. Pics are attached.

Thank you!

Do the papers match the serial. No red flags for me but a close up of the dial and claap would help

Take it to a watchmaker to authenticate that’s where I take all my watches. They usually charge 200-300 to authenticate. There should be a lot of watchmakers in New York

CDD please let me know who you end up using. I am in DC but we also have a place in NYC. Am looking at a watch online and was thinking Tourneau would be the place to take it for the authentication but I guess not.....

This model is the most easiest and best copied ROLEX watch.
And from those photos you can tell nothing.

You can take it to ROLEX in NYC
OR
If you PM me, I will try to help (no cost)
I am in NYC

PS: POst a link to the eBay sale - knowing the seller may give "some" indication
Regards
Adam

Take off the bracelet, and check if the case between the lugs (for both the serial number and the model number) matches the watch you are purchasing. You also have to open the case to see if the movement matches the ref# of your watch also. If you don't know how to detach the bracelet or open the case, you can take it to a watchmaker who has the proper tools to do so. If you're lucky, they shouldn't have to charge you for a courtesy check.

authenticate in NYC? jeez that's a snap. 47th st diamond and jewelry district. hundreds of dealers there and every single one of them would know in 5 seconds whether that is genuine. from your pics i would bet the farm it's 100% ok. if you want to see inside to check the movement then you may end up paying $10 or $20 bucks for a 47th st. dealer to open it up and take a look. however most seasoned dealers can tell if the movement is genuine simply by unscrewing the crown and feeling/watching the date, winding and hand movement. their livelihood depends on that level of expertise as the business pace there is frantic and some transactions must be made in seconds or another dealer will step up and grab it.

you may be thinking of the date-just model. date models are not really that high on the copy-list. especially older versions with case holes. from those photos i can actually tell quite a bit and as i previously mentioned i would bet the farm that watch is fine. certainly been aggressively polished but authentic.
