Imagine if Rolex was saying on the dial. Instead of Tudor. People would buy it. And pay triple the price.

Under $4k. But if they only make 100 it will probbaly be 8k lol

In marketing this is effectively the statement piece that drives eyeballs...good or bad

I don't think so mate, if Rolex was doing such a watch, I think that most people would consider selling a few of their other Rolex watches before they lose value

I really disliked the leaked pics, but I have warmed to it a bit seeing it in person. I am definitely interested in trying it on. Buying one would be another story. If you could disconnect both claws and just have a normal watch head that you could attach different straps or a nato, I'd be a lot more on board.

I bet they are going to sell more of these than anyone on here thinks. There's a dare-to-be-different quality to it that will have some appeal.

At first ai hated it but mainly because I was expecting a Tudor Sub and this P01 was way off from a sub.

But after reading the history and seeing the prototypes and looking at wrist shots (the desk shots make it look horrible because the first link is flat and makes the watch look too tall) I will admit that it is growing on me.

From a marketing perspective Tudor should have made this a LE to 100 with the bold statement of it will never be made again. They could have sold them for over 10k and have all orders filled by the end of Basel.

I'd buy this pre-owned at 2.5k to 3k...but definitely not new.

The Seiko Tuna watches are ugly as well but they have a huge fan base. I personally have a 6159-7010 (the first ever Tuna) and it ugly but I like it for it's history and the rationale for the design features that give it it's unique look.

It’s actually rubber underneath, the leather is on top and specially treated. It’s a trend right now, other dive watch manufacturers are doing it as well. Lot’s of progress have been made in material science the last 30 years

The dial itself is the best of any black bay I have seen.

I don't like it at all, but I'm glad it has buyers. If brands don't try new things they get boring. As much as I'm easy to please with simple color changes, I like that they're pushing things.

No, pretty sure Eliot has been consistent about his fondness for the dial. And I'm with him on that.

For the uninitiated, what is the point of the rotating 12 hour bezel on a dive watch?

2nd timezone and you can use it as a timing bezel still. It isn't a full gmt.

Agreed.

Definitely drawn to the domed dial

Also like the bezel and the domed crystal.

I believe Tudor called this “a cross between divers’ watch and sailing watch” on their website

The 12-hour bidirectional bezel would be used to measure time elapsed or for tracking different time zone, I suppose.

People want a resurgence of classic 5 digits and earlier so much that they appreciate things like the dial on this thing and a reasonably shaped TT Sea Dweller.

Not for me, looks like an experiment from a parts bin to build a watch.
