Beware. Never again.

I posted a few days ago that I had bought an Explorer ll (16570) from Bob's Watches. My post was about a disagreeable, even acrimonious transaction.

Well, I now have the watch. I bought the most expensive of the 16570 available at the moment, with "box and papers" and in "excellent" condition.

The watch arrived loose inside the box, banging inside the box from California to me. No cushion, no wrapper, just the watch and in the bottom a slim leather-like pouch.

The watch has been overly polished to the point where what ought to be a crisp bezel is as smooth as the bracelet. The clasp shuts with some difficulty. Overall, the Explorer looks tired and old. I don't know yet how well the movement functions. The "box and papers" a dubious mix match of box and papers.

In few words, I'm disappointed. What started poorly ended poorly. I can't send the watch back now as I live overseas. Moral of the story: Never again will I buy a watch I haven't seen and touched. Never again I'll buy a watch from someone I don't know. This is the first time I buy an used watch from some Internet vendor..., and the last. Beware.

I feel badly for you about your very poor experience.

I am looking for an older Tudor chrono and have many hesitations buying from places like Bobs or chrono24.

That's awful! Just curious, were those scratches visible in the photos they posted online when the watch was listed? Why can't you return it even if you live overseas? They should send you a prepaid label.

Wow... Out of country or not, I'd be on the phone with them trying to work this out. Good luck.

None of the blemishes, nor the way over-polished bezel, appeared as such in the pictures, and the watch was described to be in "excellent" condition. Live and learn. Never again. Hopefully others can learn from my experience.

They sure have a slick looking website. I'll give them kudos for that. But I always had a bad feeling about Bobs. Now it's confirmed. They're officially on my s%&$ list. They recently moved their offices from Huntington Beach to Newport Beach in some nondescript business park.

I've looked at Bob's before and have considered them a possible source for a used watch. If that's what they call "excellent," though, no thank you!

You can send it back thru parcel. They have 3 days return window if you are not satisfied. Also, you can leave feedback on their website.

That too bad. Can’t believe anyone should ever ship a watch like that.

I’ve never dealt with Bob’s and because of this post, probably never will.

Sad as it is, thanks for sharing your story.

I’m very sorry for the condition of that time piece, i have only had one dealing with Bob’s, well actually my wife did when she purchased me a DJII that had never been worn and it came extremely well packed and was a it was presented online with all tags and protection intact.

You may want to contact them as soon a possible and calmly explain the situation and see what they say, never hurts to try and good luck

They probably dinged the original seller left and right over those marks to get the lowest possible buy price. They then turned and sold it as their highest priced piece with "box and papers" to you.

I've tried to deal with the online sellers a couple of times but I will always choose selling here, WUS, Reddit, Etc. over selling to one of the glorified pawn shops that exist online.

Bob's is the worst of the online sellers and I've heard this story multiple times.

Another lesson here for future purchases. When dealing with greys, always buy new and unworn, preferably with stickers if you can find one. It's just too risky buying preowned.

Isn't this watch over 10 years old? Can you post clearer pics of it without magnification?

I sorry it does look a little polished but the bezel on the E2 is one of the harder bezels to finish. It would be crazy to think they they would finish it to factory specs when only a few companies can actually do that kind of work.

I really do not see a beat up watch. I see a good looking E2.

He used PayPal and may have some recourse via them.

Sorry to read this sad end to your experience Juantxo. I would contact Bob's and if they won't take care of this, contact PayPal.

Your OP says a lot about Bob's Watches. How they handle your complaint will be more telling still.

Good luck with it. I hope you get a good result. International shipping or no, I would not be living with this.

I've spoken with them many times. To use the term "car salesman" would be overly kind.

Hope you can still return that watch.

I enjoy browsing their site, looking at their vintage watches...
