This is why Omega will beat out Rolex...

So I called the boutique today and inquired about a flat links bracelet for my FOIS. I specifically asked whether the 19mm flat links on the 57 trilogy speedmaster would fit. She wasn’t sure but said that she’d be happy to order one in (at no cost to me) and for me to come in and try it on. If it fits and if I like it I can purchase it. Mind you the trilogy is a limited edition piece. And the kicker is, she only quoted me $720.

Can you imagine how a Rolex SA would react?

Customer service means a lot to me. I still love Rolex watches but if Omega wins out long term it will be because of how they take care of customers.

What do you think?

Rarely does the “nice girl” get asked out on a date. But the “hot b!tch” who knows she’s hot and treats guys like dirt, gets asked out all the time ... and she turns down most of them.

People want what they can’t have.

Enthusiasts already like Omega. The Rolex hype train went into overdrive when everyone with $10k in the bank realized they could buy a Rolex, keep it in pristine shape, and sell it in a year or two for little loss or even a slight gain. Those people aren’t looking to swap bracelets, any change will affect their “investment.” Great brand for someone who wants to have fun with their their watches though!

this might actually be the most appropriate reply possible.

it's so true actually. Omega makes more watches, is more available, affordable, arguably a better watch...... yet commands a lesser value ?

Last year, I didn't know about the whole Rolex ridiculousness.

Walked in an AD - big waiting list I was told. I Rolexes available. Other chap put his name down. I was asked if I wanted to by 'no'.

Walked into second AD - sale story

Oh well, visited the Omega/IWC AD next door. Found some POs and Awqutimers I liked. Tried them on.

Walked into second AD, found a LE PO I fell in love with immediately.

Left a happy man a week later. Got a discount too.

Looks better than most Rolex any day, probably better movement too but I'm not really into movements as much as other WIS.

Rolex will always be king, but I'm not jumping through hoops to buy something that isn't really rare or better made than others.

Not chasing Rolex if they are not readily available.

This is actually far more true when you reverse the sexes, apart from the turning down part.
