Icon5 Daytona Question

Should the Daytona be issued in Platinum?

Can someone tell me why the Daytona has never been issued in Platinum? The Daytona would be even more perfect in Platinum with the Meteorite dial, or with the classic blue dial.

I keep imagining my Meteorite Daytona in Platinum...http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=34267

It just seems that this watch, like the Day-Date and the Yacht Master deserves Platinum.

Time for a poll- and I would love to hear your thoughts.

How much do you think one of these would cost if they did issue them?

$60,000 give or take... if a DD II platinum is $57,000... I figure a few more grand for a similar metal Daytona...

Great idea, but another watch I can't afford. I'd vote for a ivory face with black sub-dials. And I do wish Rolex would add a date complication.

I am astonished that Rolex put a platinum bezel on a Yachtmaster, before introducing a Platinum Daytona. Does anyone have any insight on why they made this move?

The thing I found odd was ,why not have a platinum bezel on the SS Daytona... like the platinum bezel on the SS/P Yachtmaster???

Based on the price of the SS model, I'd hate to see what it would cost in Platinum! Sure would look nice though.

I'm sure the marketing department has a good reason why... my guess is there wouldn't be enough of them sold to invest in tooling??? pouring platinum is a bit different from other metals from what I understand...

I voted "yes'' because I think it's a great idea...but as of the time of my post there are 24 votes against the idea (versus 50+ in favor). I wonder what some of the reasons might be for the negative votes...

It would really love to know why anyone would be against manufacturing the greatest watch ever, in the best metal. It takes nothing away from the watches already produced, and only serves to elevate the Daytona to an even higher status!

I personally think not - it is a tool watch and should be left as a tool watch (and yes I would kill the gold versions as well)

Yes I know I am probably one of the few people to have that view but hey
