Both great watches, overbuilt for what they were originally intended, though not sure that's as relevant today.

Having owned both, I found the DSSD 12xxxx to be much more comfortable than the SD43, despite the thickness difference. This has to do primarily with the caseback. Both bracelets are great. I believe either would complement a BLNR well. Cheers.

No worries. Since the 116660 had been out since 2008 and his dive was in 2012 while wearing the 116660 they released the new dial to commemorate the dive.

Fine by me Mike. Heck, how boring would it be if we all agreed

SD43 vs JC2 126660

I’d go with the SD43 if you want an everyday watch. I love mine. It’s very wearable & has great wrist presence.

Go with the JC if you want a more coveted watch, and don’t need a daily.

The JC by a fair margin. Still can’t get my head around why I sold mine.

I owned both at the same time. Both are beautiful. The JC is obviously more special and unique since it’s the only Rolex with this type of dial.
I found the Deepsea to be more comfortable than the SD43. It sits better on my wrist. I even put the SD43 on an Everest rubber band and it just never felt right.
The Deepsea also has a curved sapphire which is another unique feature about this watch vs others. You may like it since it’s different or may find it odd since you don’t expect this on a Rolex.
And one more thing not often mentioned is the HEV on the Deepsea is polished. The SD43 has an unfinished look that is noticeable.

I’d go JC personally, that dial is beautiful.

I had original Deepsea and SD43. The former was more comfortable and never felt as big as it was. The reverse is true with SD43.

You can't go wrong with either of them but the SD43 will be my preference.

Owned the black DeepSea and the SD43 (twice)

Sold them all and kept the SD 4000

I have an 8" wrist and was really looking forward to the larger case sizes but being honest with myself I found the larger watches to be more imbalanced in feel and looks.

The SD 4000 was just more balanced in every way.

I would go for the 126600 as a potential daily.

If its on a wis stage and watch will be used time to time just to admire, go for JC.

I own both. I love them both and wear them both frequently. I do believe that the SD43 is the best all around diver Rolex makes but the JC is beautiful and wears so well despite its girth. Weight is not an issue as I have the Platona, now that is heavy. Both can be everyday watches save formal events.

SD 43 would be my first choice.
