New pepsi drive up prices of old pepsi?

Any thoughts? With all this hype around the Ceramic Pepsi SS. Not all like the Jubilee Band either. Wait lists are like 5 years out.

I wouldn't think so. New Tudor GMT Pepsi is quite similar to 5-digit Rolex GMT Pepsi, which can partly resolve the issue of shortage of supply of BLRO in a few years.

I guess this is good marketing and thinking on behalf of Rolex. Well planned. But Rolex and Tudor are two types of customer.

Here’s a thread with a lot of valid opinions on the topic - https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=593345

I showed a family member the Tudor 58, as he wants a SD, and he said, “I didn’t know Rolex made Tudor, but I’d rather get the real thing.”

Either way, a seller lists at a price that they believe it will sell, and either someone pays that price, or not.

If you could walk into any AD and purchase the new BLRO without a wait, then the prices of 16710's would likely drop a little. However, knowing the current market of SS sports models, this will not be the case. I would expect the prices of 16710's to gradually increase as they have been historically.

Apparently wait lists on the Tudor GMT are years long already. I started treating my old pepsi like a holy relic some time ago. I can't see me getting any better.

I’m quite sure the only impact the PepsiC will have on the 16710 will be positive.

The 116500 pushed up the 116520 to new levels. That’s probably the closest comparison.

However I personally believe the truth lies in the price fixing of the gray market. They essentially control the market by setting the prices. There’s no reason why they would allow a discontinued watch in high demand to drop in price. My money is it’s on the other way and gray dealers start increasing prices. I’ve already noticed 16710’s at higher prices and it’s only been a few days.

Thanks. This is what I have observed as well. 16710 Pepsi is classic and such a timeless piece. Most would agree the Pepsi Bezel Color is much more period than the GMT II Ceramic Bezel. The new Pepsi all around is a better made watch including the bracelet which I am a huge fan of.

Location is everything. I seriously doubt my dealers list will last much past mid summer

Did the ceramic Sub Drive the price of old ones? Did ceramic Daytona cause the recently retired model to increase? Plenty of history to make an educated guess

I personally think the Classic Pepsi is different than to compare to the others.

Really? Different how? I think there are far more collectors who desire Daytona and Sub than a Pepsi...but time will tell

I expect the price of the 5 digit references to increase at a faster rate as there will be those who want both the old and the new.

Hard to believe that. People have more choice now, especially a choice to buy new.

At least for me, I don't like used watch in general, so the old pepsi/coke never in my shopping list. Now I am in the waiting list for the new Pepsi.

This had been the case a few years ago. Everyone wants their pepsi at present. It overtook the Sub not long after the WG BLRO came out.
