Can’t swing a dead cat at a pga tour event\major without hitting 50 caddies all wearing a Rolex

Pro Caddies earn between $1500-$3000 weekly. If they work all professional tournaments, they work 30 weeks per yr. They are responsible for all their own travel and hotel expenses. If they work for one of the premier Tour Pros, they get 10% of his winnings. Can they afford A Rolex? Sure. The way I look at it, if I can afford a few Rolexes, anyone can.

So unless every single interview, magazine article and book I've read or seen in the last 50 years is wrong, a pga caddie gets a weekly salary/expenses plus a % of the prize money. But maybe I wasn't entirely clear. By "free", I meant no salary. My point was that in his prime Tiger was winning around ten million per year. I think even if his caddie was only getting a few % of that, there would be no shortage of applicants who would take the job. When I said it was obvious, I meant obvious to me. |
