Yes, he is.

Exactly

Forget about all the prep work they do etc... The golfer and the caddie are team like a pitcher and a catcher.

Can’t swing a dead cat at a pga tour event\major without hitting 50 caddies all wearing a Rolex

Pro Caddies earn between $1500-$3000 weekly. If they work all professional tournaments, they work 30 weeks per yr. They are responsible for all their own travel and hotel expenses. If they work for one of the premier Tour Pros, they get 10% of his winnings. Can they afford A Rolex? Sure. The way I look at it, if I can afford a few Rolexes, anyone can.

Obviously, in his prime Tiger could have found thousands who would have carried his bag around for free if there wasn't a whole lot more expected from a top level caddie.
Those numbers you cite are purely anecdotal, like how many watches Rolex makes or what the AD mark up is. And it’s not at all obvious that thousands would have carried his bag, regardless of the qualifications.

I don't think you know what anecdotal means and it's a little ironic that you came here to just to tell me I'm wrong and offer nothing more to the conversation.

So unless every single interview, magazine article and book I've read or seen in the last 50 years is wrong, a pga caddie gets a weekly salary/expenses plus a % of the prize money.

But maybe I wasn't entirely clear. By "free", I meant no salary. My point was that in his prime Tiger was winning around ten million per year. I think even if his caddie was only getting a few % of that, there would be no shortage of applicants who would take the job. When I said it was obvious, I meant obvious to me.
