Here's a recent news story mentioning Rolex leaving some lights off at night to save energy. They cite Rolex declining to comment on further plans, which of course makes the above letter even more unlikely.

Obvious fake letter designed to scare people into thinking prices *may* go up -- when, in fact, secondary prices have been consistently dropping for seven consecutive months. Prices still falling. Smart collectors won't be fooled.

Likely fabricated by the gray market to keep inflation high. Sorry to be so cynical, but im sure we will see more as the economy continues to sink and the attempt to bolster the markets become more desprate

For those who haven’t seen it’s obviously fake, both my AD and the RSC near us confirmed this morning that it is a fugazi.

Do you have a link for where this came from? Would be fun to try to trace it back to the origin.

My AD responded with "Lol... so funny (and fake)".

You can even see the halo around where they cut and pasted a signature image on top of this (enhanced here to show it)

i have questions????

Everybody on here talks!
they know someone that knows someone
they talk about Rolex as if they know Uncle Rollo and they said this or that....
I heard from an AD that know this....bla bla bla....

But I/we/you/me/etc/etc. never hear anything from Rolex saying anything other that from their magazine or whatever

It's all hearsay.....

Most companies have a spokesperson/lawyer(s) or someone speak for their business.

I never hear Rolex say anything about anything...shortage, closing...bla bla bla....

Are family member's of Rolex banded for life if they ever say anything or are we going to go through our life not knowing anything of this great product ROLEX.

My thoughts, precisely.

Elbow grease, manual hand finish > electircity! Gotta return back to the old ways when the farmers/herders would work on watch parts through the winter and cart it over to Geneva when the mountain roads defrosted in the spring!

The letter looks dodgy as hell, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Rolex cut production again now that the hysteria is slowing down.

Will the grey dealer who wrote this piece of crap please put up their hand?
At least we can identify who the moron is and let him know his con job is as bad as some boob job that claims they are “all natural”

I believe you are right. Rolex loves the current market dynamic. If the secondary market prices fall to par and new watches are sitting in cases unsold, I would expect supply cuts.

The letter is clearly a fake. But the situation mentioned is plausible. Swiss compagnies have been asked to prepare emergency plans to reduce energy consumption if required. (10% less, 20% less, ect...)
So production slow down may occur.
Fortunately, Rolex factories are not in the mountains where winter is very harsh. Not the same for AP, JLC, Zenith, Cartier ...
Hope winter is not coming to fast this year.
