Need your help fellow watch folks.....This got moved to the Omega forum, so please give me your best unbiased thoughts ( : (I realize mileage would vary in the Panerai forum). I posted in the Rolex forum to get unbiased thoughts, but it was moved as it is non Rolex I guess...

Would you trade this......

No. Based purely on value... and assuming condition is the same on both watches, pre-owned, similar history and papers, the PAM on bracelet should sell in the mid to high $5K area, while the POC would sell in the mid to low $4K area. I think you are $1K-$1.5k apart.

The POC has had a few issues with the movement also (mine did too) and had to be sent in for warranty work.

If it was a trade for a 8500 PO I would say yes......if you haven't yet, go try one on!

I really like the look of the older 3 sub dial model, looks more balanced to me. It also appears that the price of that chrono being much newer is significantly higher, not sure that I would ever find that same deal. The PAM 50 has just become small and boring for me, just doesn't see wrist time. thanks for the info

Based on looks alone I would. I never really cared for the Panerai bracelet for one thing and that particular Omega has always intrigued me. But you really should do your best to get the actual value of the timepiece back instead of just doing a trade based on aesthetics.

Without a second thought.
Although I would like to get some change as the Pam is worth a good 1-1.5k more.

People have said that a couple of times, but in my research and attempt to sell, no one is paying 5k for the 40mm PAM...just not selling for that. I saw one that a guy made a final price reduction to $4,000!! Not even sure if he sold it for that, and it was in very similar age/condition. So I am not worrying about it and moving forward! Thanks

I wouldn't but I've also never owned a PAM so I can't speak from experience.

I probably wouldn't. If you're tired of the PAM, you should get a funky strap for it and spruce it up. Also, it's nice to see another watch guy from Michigan.

When I answered above, I was under the impression that the pam was a full size model, the pic is a bit misleading as it doesn't look like a 40mm. In hindsight, I would say the value is closer than I originally thought, probably $500 apart in favor of the pam, given the bracelet. So with that in mind it would become more of a visual preference, and if the POC does it for you then go for it. Regarding your PM about the movements reliability, I do not know if later examples were immune to the issues, I can only say from experience that the one I owned started acting up, losing time, and then stopped running, exactly as anticipated from the other owners I had read about. It was rectified under warranty and ran flawlessly after that. If you dont know the service history or build date of the POC, you do take a gamble. I wouldn't consider it unless it has a warranty. I recently picked up a POC 9300 for $5100 used, and I would highly recommend that you save a few more dollars and try and go with the newer model, well worth the extra money.

Thanks for the info. It was sold in Apr 2012, so hopefully issues are rectified, if not I will have the majority of the warranty to fall back on. I may end up with a 9300 down the road as well, but the older dial is more to my liking. I made the deal and should get it Thursday...more to follow....but I am excited. I had the older smaller PO with orange bezel, but sold it as it seemed small and did not have the chrono functions. I knew one day I would return to the orange PO chrono, and getting one mint just a few months old is even better!
