Purchasing a boutique only piece
Discounts can be hard to come by when purchasing a Rolex, but for most other brands a purchase from an AD can be expected to be accompanied by a discount of 10 to 25 percent.
For those that have purchased from a boutique, can discounts be obtained? Or is the price non-negotiable. Interested a JLC boutique only piece, but at full retail the price seems a bit high. Wondering how I should set my expectations. Thanks! |

I bought my recent JLC from a boutique and got a discount, always worth asking. I had been offered the watch elsewhere at discount so they slightly bettered that offer.

At an AP Boutique I've been offered 15% discount on a women's Offshore model, as well as on a Royal Oak 15300ST. So nothing is impossible, even in a boutique. I have no experience about JLC Boutiques, but considering the huge price drop of JLC watches on the 2nd hand market, I'd either push for at least 25% discount (even in a JLC Boutique), or opt for a 2nd hand BNIB or LNIB piece.

You will NOT get a discount on a boutique ONLY piece such as the JLC Navy Seal Incursion. Some boutiques can offer discounts on certain models however a model that is a boutique only special edition will not be discounted.

Hello neighbor....
I have purchased 2 AP's from the boutique. One was discounted 10%. The other was a limited edition and not discounted. |

Thank you, everyone, for the feedback. My knowledge of boutique transactions is admittedly near non-existent and based primarily off of the second-hand stories I've heard come out of the Omega boutiques.
The specific watch I'm interested in is the recently announced Jaeger-LeCoultre Deep Sea Vintage Chronograph. The price is listed at $10.8k. At full price it has to compete with more expensive watches that can be obtained at a discount like an IWC 7 day Portuguese; relative to many of the SS Rolex models, it's more expensive. I realize most would say they're not direct competitors, and they are indeed very different watches -- but I've only so many funds to spend, and in that sense everything is directly comparable. Think I'll have to avoid this one for now. Thanks again, everyone! |
