Is he offering both watches in direct exchange for the SD? If so, take the deal. If not, run away with the SD firmly on your wrist.

Now if he was offering an IWC Big Pilot ... I'd be advising you differently.

I pick up my SD tomorrow and will wear it for a while and decide if I ever want to take it off again or not...

I'll post once I decide OK guys?

Thanx for all the advice/comments!

The SD is such a classic! How will you live without it?

Well both of your other choices are .....

Well both of your other choices are quite a bit more expensive than the 'trade' value at a dealer for the SD. I like the Pro One a lot more that the IWC but not too much more than the SD. Both other watches are more "horologically sophisticated" but as far as I am concerned not better and certainly not more rugged than the Rolex. So the Chopard is the only one that I would consider but you will take a beating if you are actually going to trade at the AD. Also I don't care for rubber straps and the bracelet for the Chopard is pretty pricey if I remember correctly and it has no adjustment other than link removal.

If it was for the SS Ingenieur then I would do the trade ASAP. Not a big fan of having watches with Car Logos on the watch (engraved on the case back of the above Ti Ingenieur) unless I own that make of Automobile as well.

As for the Chopard, if the Chopard had the SS Bracelet I would also do it ASAP.

But as they are now, it is up to you if you really like one of the above watches better than the SD, then that is up to you. As you mentioned to me, if getting a good amount of cash plus the watch in exchange for the SD, it is a good deal.

Many advantages the two above models have over the SD. Bigger in size, which I personally like as both the above are 42mm. Both the Chopard and the Ingenieur also have AR coated crystals. Both the Chopard and the Ingeniur also have very good quality in-house movements. THe Ingenieur's movement is a real workhorse and specifically designed to take shocks and impacts. And the Bracelets that come with both the Pro-One and the Ingenieur are 10 times better than the Rolex bracelet. And the Chopards lumination put the SD to shame. I also really like the Compass Symbol engraving on the Chopard's case back.

The IWC and Chopard are both nice watches, but I don't think either will remain a classic like the SD.

I'm biased of course since I'm wearing a SD right now.

The solution is ridiculously simple (and ridiculous and not simple)...forget all three and buy a RADO!!!

Seriously, keep the SD!

Being an IWC owner myself, I love the brand. I would love and Ingenieur, but NOT the one there, I find that one not as aesthetically appealing.

I like the 3227 in SS and the current ME.

SD is very difficult to find! if the item for trade was a sub date i would reconsider.

on the other hand, i find only the IWC portuguese a really special watch

I traded my SD for a PAM177. Love my PAM, but I keep my eyes out for an SD.

I have always been a fan of the true in-house LUC movement. You should of showed the picture of the movement. The 3135 may be a workhorse, but it sure isn't pretty when you see it against the LUC. It is a beautiful piece. I haven't done any research on the price. I assume your A would sell for $3,900 after all is said and done. The market you sell into with either one of the trade watch will shrink. It will shrink less with the IWC. However, the IWC is a real yawner compared to the Chopard. Chopard......baby......Chopard!

A lot of old threads brought back lately.

I'm sure the OP made the decision 2 years ago.
