The same as usual, of course:

The Rolex Coronet logo won't EVER be altered!

Look at my signature, and you have the answer!

There should be a two dots.

On all the modern day Rollies, a LINE indicates that it is a TWINLOCK crown.

3 dots indicates that it's a TRIPLOCK crown.

Hi Bill,

Am wearing my DD this weekend. Tried on a YG GMT II Anniversary with black dial a few weeks ago at my AD. It is a huge chunk of gold compared to the DD. Mine has the single line.
What are your plans?

Eddie,

what clasp style has your DD?

Like this?

I ask since apparantly the new style clasp was not introduced in 2000 with the other updates for the DD (like your 118238), but first came later (P-series), but I am still not sure if this is true or not.

Also, it has been brought up here that the new clasp style might be proned to wear and result in a clasp that opens accidently all the time. The old-style clasp had a feature where you could adjust the snap.

What is your experience from using the clasp?

Hi Bo,

Mine is a 'N' and has the old clasp, which I prefer.

Ah, I see. Well, then naturally it would have the old-style clasp.

Yours just looks like a 118238 with the polished lugs, but now - on closer inspection - I can see that the case has this special cut out section where the lugs attach to the case that the new DD hasn't got:

And the 18238:

Bo, the fully polished case is usually the first thing I look at to determine 18238's from 118238's. The second thing I look at is the hands. I thought that Rolex switched to the "all Gold" hands along with all of the other updates with the 118238 model was introduced "P" series. But I noticed that your pic of the 118238 has the older style hands with the white lume stripe. Was that watch altered???

There is a line below the coronet on the crown of my ladies' YM. Rolex told me that the ladies' model has the twinlock, but the men's version has the triple-lock, because of the size difference of the watch.

No, the all-gold hands are optional. The SL stripe on the hands of the 118238 is still made.

Bo, I'm curious as to what you mean by "optional". Is there an additional charge for them? Are they considered more desirable? What's up?

Optional in this case means that you can order that you can order a DD with those hands' style through your AD. I don't think there would be an extra charge. It is just a different style.
