1680 back from the LAWW spa

I've had this 1680 for years and it needed a full service and a little TLC. I sent it off to the trustworthy folks at LAWW a few months ago and it returned home this week.

I don't have many close up pictures before, though here's one that shows how beat up the crystal was looking.

Apart on the bench

Putting it back together

Nice case lines and new 25-127 top hat

All back together

I'm very pleased with the end result and glad to have the 1680 back on my wrist. Yes, it's a luminova service dial. I'm one of those that enjoys having the best of both worlds - vintage look and feel of the 1680 case, date wheel, top hat...with the functionality of the glowing luminova service dial.

One day, I'll fully satisfy my 1680 desires with a birth year red Sub. In the meantime, this one will do.

I agree with you there. I think more collectors are finally starting to treat service-dial vintage watches less like lepers. Service dials won't be available for purchase for every model forever, and not every old "original" dial looks good.

That looks great. They did a hell of a job. Wear it in good health. It just pops.

Factory installed official Rolex dial. Not sure why there was ever a problem with these. Looks epic.

LOVE it. I'm with you on the service dials - I have one on my 1675 and another on my SM300. Love the old school look plus the functionality of the working lume; best of both worlds IMO.

Looks amazing! I too prefer the functionality of a luminova dial as well.

I also agree. I'm not a collector and I don't care what a service dial does to resale value. I want my watch to glow.
