Collection Advice Needed

Gentlemen - I am calling on you for counsel on my next step in my collecting journey. Over the years I have bought, owned, enjoyed and sold many many different watches and I now find myself thinking about one or two nice pieces to round out the collection. These are the watches I currently own (sorry no pictures as I have no idea how to do that):

1. Patek 5960G
2. Patek 5235G
3. Vacheron 1955 CdV in steel
4. Moser Perpetual One in palladium
5. Laurent Ferrier Origin Opaline
6. Chopard LUC Quattro Mark II in white gold
7. Rolex 116400 Z-Blue
8. Rolex 116710 (all three inserts)
9. Rolex 16610LV Flat Four
10. Rolex 116622 blue dial

My thinking is to sell the Milgauss and the Yachtmaster + top up for something that really adds diversity to the collection. Can go a number of ways. I like complications and I currently dont have a moonphase or worldtimer, I dont have platinum, I dont have an integrated bracelet sportswatch, no coloured metal, no non-round watch etc.

On my shortlist I have:

5130P
JLC Duometre Lunaire
Lange 1 Darth or Stealth
Breguet 7027
AP 15202/15300/15450

I appreciate your thoughts/ideas and open to other suggestions.

What a fabulous collection you have! Automatics, manual winds, independents . . .

You mention liking complications and not having a moonphase or platinum. That all points to the ALS Lange 1 stealth. I’ve been watching this piece at European Watch Co. for about a month:
https://www.europeanwatch.com/watch/...lve-50060.html

If it were me, I’d add Moritz Grossmann to the shortlist. The new Tefnut friction dial is terrific (but similar to your Ferrier). The Grossmann backpage is fun and interesting, a bit like the Breguet in aesthetics. Grossmann is the new Lange, similar to what Lange was before Richemont.

Nice collection. I would target one of these:

1) Lange 1 moonphase in platinum (satisfies two of your don't-haves)

2) Breguet Tradition -- there are many great ones. The original is excellent, but any of them would add true diversity to your collection and they are wonderful pieces.

Good luck!

From your shortlist, the 15202 is THE one!

Perhaps another PC but with a moon phase.

Some great suggestions. I hadn’t thought about a platinum Lange moonphase. That would add diversity from a brand, metal and complication perspective. Like the shout-outs for the Breguet. I have never tried a MG but with the 41mm sizes, open dials and long lugs they will likely be too large for my 17cm wrist. Please keep your suggestions coming!

Would you consider the 16202? I feel the 16202 is a much refined version of the 15202.

You have an amazing collection! I would add the Breguet or Lange 1 Darth

Is there a budget you are trying to stay within? If you are considering ALS, I would look to this which checks your moonphase box and you don't have a salmon dial. Otherwise the 15202 jumbo of the ones you listed or a 5740 for an integrated bracelet QP with moonphase. IMO platinum isn't worth the additional money to WG.

Breguet for me. I just tried this one a day ago and it is very nice. Just don’t pay full price

Breguet provides the most value. I like the L1 the most of the list but wouldn’t personally pay extra for a stealth or darth. Would rather just buy a modern L1 WG and pocket the premium.

Thanks again for your input. So slowly but surely I’m able to whittle the list down to three options: AP 15202, Breguet 7037 (love that rotor!) and the Lange 109.025. All three very different, and I’m leaning towards the AP simply because I don’t have an integrated bracelet watch and the other two overlap somewhat with the other dressier pieces in the collection. Someone asked about budget - well I initially thought “max 40k” but if it’s the 15202 then I will simply have to let go of one more watch. If anyone has further thoughts to share: feel free!

My vote would be Duomčtre, Lange 1 or AP, but I'm biased!

Just to close off this thread. I just picked up a blue Streamliner Chrono today. So in the end I decided to double down on Moser as I really wanted something that stands out from the rest of my collection. It was a close race between a 15450 and the Moser, and the Moser just feels a little more special to me. Thanks for all your input!

I’m not familiar enough with all of your choices to give a very informed opinion.

I guess the 15202 is the one that stands out (to me)

A lot more special than a 15450 I might say. Big congrats!

The Breguet is better made and far more interesting than any of the others with maybe the exception of the Duometre.

Both are a nice discount used.

Breguet ~$14k - $16k used
Duometre ~$21k - $23k.

Plus one for the Breguet. Bought a rose gold 5817 this year and it's just great. As another poster mentioned, do not pay full msrp.

Nice list. My choice would be the JLC Doumetre Lunaire.

I'd sell some of those rolexs and go for a 15202 or 16202. If you still have an itch for a moonphase complication, you can trade your 5960 for a 5205g
