Jubilee on a 5512

Hello all, new member Court here, aka sftosendai! I posted in the new member section as well, but for those who missed it, I'm Court, an American that's been living in Japan for the past 10 years! Not military, but rather a high school English teacher! Nice to meet you all!

On to my question for all you masters..
I've seen this done so I recently picked up an old stainless jubilee
with 55 flush fit end links, but obviously they don't correctly fit my 5512 case.
So I'm hoping to get one of you guys help in determining which jubilee end links will fit on my 5512 case? I've also seen some round end links that don't actually sit flush on the case, but rather look more like something from a divers watch, leaving the lug area on the case open, so if anyone can recommend something like this so I can make use of this bracelet, I sure would appreciate it!
Have a nice day to you all!

Thanks in advance.

-Court

to each his own, but...jubilee on a 5512 = sacrelige.

but having a jubilee is a great reason to buy a vintage gmt.

Nonsense. If that is the case a NATO might as well be too.

I have seen a handful of 5512/5513 and other Subs on Jubilee. I think it makes for an occasional nice change up.

Do as you like.

Also, you might just need to open up the endlinks a little bit more. Otherwise, 550/502B's technically will fit.

Really appreciate all of your replies, and appreciate the opinions as well!
But if I can get my hands on a pair of 550 or 502b end links you can bet this jubilee
is going on the 5512 & will look great as well! Need a change plus the added comfort!
Thanks again very much!

true, do as you like. if you are considering a jubilee on a 5512, then you might as well consider the countless other options, too. as long as you like it, that's all that counts.

Thanks a lot! By the way, what are the countless other options? Oyster, Jubilee & NATO are covered, but if there are any other options I sure would like to know!
Thanks again!

Submariners actually look good on Jubilee's! Especially no dates. If it feels right, go for it!

If you are saying you have a jubilee with end pieces that were intended for a 36mm watch, my experience is that the change to the correct end pieces is not all that noticeable. My first Rolex was a rootbeer GMT in 1974, and it came on a strap cuz I couldn't afford the bracelet. Some years later, I bought a DJ just to get the bracelet. That bracelet fit nicely on the GMT, and the end pieces looked fine.

If you want end pieces that are made for your 40mm watch, you might post a "want to buy" in the sales section of this forum.

550's fit my jubilee perfectly to both my GMT Master 16750 as well as my Tudor Sub 79090.
Jubilee looks and feels great on both!

X2. However, I don't like jubilee bracelets on my watches.

Beautiful

Wow, that's beautiful. By the way, I've heard that 555 end links will work with vintage sub and jubilee bracelet, but is this true? Have a good one. Again, beautiful piece.

I'm pretty sure you will require the 55 endlinks.

No offense, but I'm really not looking for opinions on whether or not you think the jubilee belongs on a vintage sub or not, as I am going to put this jubilee on my 5512 regardless, one way or another, & enjoy it & the different look. But I am looking for technical advice, so any of that is greatly appreciated.

I can confirm that the 55 end links for a jubilee will not work on a vintage sub 5512. Well, they can be used but don't fit right so look like garbage! I'm looking at a set of 555 end links & the seller says they will fit correctly on a 5512/5513, so looking for confirmation from the pros here! I know the 502's will work, but they're so rare & expensive that I'm looking for another route! Many thanks in advance. Best to all from Japan.

i don't know where you got the idea that jubilee bracelets don't belong on subs. it was not a common configuration, but they did come equipped that way. since no one else seems to chime in on this, i will tell you that back in the 50's 60's and 70's you could buy a sub at a rolex retailer and choose either a jubilee or oyster band. 550 end links will work on both gmt and sub models just fine, and contrary to your research, the vintage folded jubilee with 55 end links were also used on gmt and sub models...

Actually, I think they belong on subs, or at least I think they look really good on subs, hence my effort here to locate the proper end links to put this jubilee I have on my 5512 Sub! Thanks for your input here though.

As well, the 55 end links that I have on my jubilee will indeed fit this vintage sub, but due to the fact that they are not "spread" enough to cover the case ends, it looks really bad. And this is the reason I am looking for another option, like perhaps the 555 end links!
