Did my thread post?

Is this Yachtmaster authentic?

My friend says he bought it - it's hard to believe, I never knew him as a watch guy!

Not likely. The second hand should be wider than the hour hand, and the 6 and 9 should be closed fonts:

Sorry, that's a fake. Too many blatant flaws. BTW, welcome to TRF. Hope you haven't bought that watch!!

Cheers - JJ

Welcome to TRF.

The watch is not real. Many "tells" hands, date, crown guards etc....

fffirside, this is where you would introduce yourself and mention something about yourself. Instead you come in here and post this picture of a a watch that your friend has and ask us if we think it's real or not!..

Is this Yachtmaster authentic?
My friend in Hollywood recently bought a "Rolex"- but it just doesn't seem like something he'd do. He sent me a picture of it via email, but I'm wondering if he's pulling my leg.

Your last post of this picture did not make it up onto the board for this reason and I'm of the notion to take this one down too.

Sorry moderator - it also says "something to help you out" so I thought it would fit in fine. Sorry again.

Sad to hear it's fake - I wish he had gotten a real one. I have a GMT Master, but it's probably in storage or packaged somewhere in the new house.

It really doesn't matter much to me. It's old, and I have plenty of watches. I'll find it eventually, but I doesn't really worry me. By the way, I think it's $4k, but I'm not sure anymore.

Well, pal, a person who has little or no value for something that's worth four grand....well, then what can I say? Maybe you're on the wrong forum?

You see, we do care for our watches....doesn't matter if it's worth ten grand or just a couple of hundred bucks...we care for them!!

And that's what this forum's all about - Caring and friendship!!

Stick around, pal...you'll be surprised at how much you learn!!

Cheers - JJ

Oh, it's not that I have no value for it. I am just absolutely sure that it'll turn up - I did just move, and it will probably show up in the next few days.

Of course I do tend to hang onto watches that have been passed down to me, given as a gift, etc... and I wouldn't let them out of my sight. That isn't the case with that particular one though.

Anyway, I'll stick around! Hope I didn't make a bad first impression, I love my watches.

Well, to be perfectly honest....it wasn't the bad impression so much as the surprising one.

Not many newbies make an extrance as un-dramatic as yours with a fake...but now we'll keep all that behind us and move on to better things. Hope you can find your REAL watch soon enough and post some pics for all these wonderful guys to enjoy.

Cheers and keep posting, pal.

JJ

I'm so glad you didn't like that reply to the picture of "The Village People" on the other thread.
